Some Warcraft III Battle.net players have recently been using a map hack to remove the fog of war, which grants them a major advantage against opponents who don't cheat to see more of the map than the game would normally allow. Since the issue affects ladder games, there's concern that the hack could let players gain ranks unfairly. Blizzard has announced that it's aware of the issue and is working to "neutralize" the hack.

As a part of this effort, Blizzard has said that it will ban the CD key of anyone caught using the hack to prevent them from playing on Battle.net and that it "will continue to randomly monitor games connected through Battle.net to ensure fair play." Blizzard also suggested that players who suspect the hack may have been used against them should save the replay of the game and send the file to hacks@blizzard.com. There are more details on the Battle.net site.

Popular online games are often subject to hacks and exploits, and Warcraft III certainly is popular. Blizzard's real-time strategy game has topped the sales charts since its release at the beginning of July. For more on Warcraft III, read our full review of the game.
