Manhunt hits PSN next week

Rockstar North's decade-old dark action game coming to PlayStation 3 for $10 May 14; The Warriors will be available "soon."

Rockstar North's controversial dark action game Manhunt is coming to the PlayStation Network next week, the company has announced.

The 2004 game, blamed for a murder in the United Kingdom, will be available for PlayStation 3 users in North America on May 14, arriving a day later for gamers in Europe.

Manhunt on the PSN will cost $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99. It will be the latest in the growing catalog of PlayStation 2-era Rockstar Games titles coming to PSN, following Bully, Red Dead Revolver, and multiple Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club games.

In addition, Rockstar Games teased that The Warriors, the 2005 game based on the 1979 gang film of the same name, will hit PSN "soon."

Manhunt was amazing.  They blamed the poor sales of the 2nd one on the game quality, when no, it was because it was horribly censored.

Crazy and amaziing since I love Manhunt. I still remember way back playing it for the first time. Glad to see it's revival.

Funny enough today on Amazon they have Manhunt 2 with the AO rating up to purchase for PC at least. Only other place you could get it was Gamersgate till recently. Have no idea when it came back but damn glad to see it!

Dark game inf act the staff was against it even, even still was pretty good stealth game. I've yet played a game that was so dark that I was offended and refused to try it.

They had better not sensor it like they did the sequel... Manhunt was AWESOME at making you feel like a rabbit being hunted by a pack of wolves, great atmosphere and some of the darkest stuff you'll see in a game, but it really felt more like an experiment by Rockstar for combat mechanics they wanted to use in future GTA games than a real, stand alone game. Still an interesting title (you're in a snuff film, how awesome is THAT?!?), and worth a try if you've got the stomach for it! :)

Good news about Red Dead Revolver, too! :)

DAMMIT! The Warriors is one of my favorite games of all time. I still have it for Xbox, but can't play it on 360 because it's not compatible! Why can't Rockstar release any of these (not including the GTA's) for 360! Please Rockstar! release The Warriors for 360!

Red Dead Revolver is one game that should not be missed.

This game is a classic. I still play it on a ps2 emu every now and then. The atmosphere and grittiness still get to me.

Imagine, if Manhunt 3 came with a first person mode - supporting the Oculus Rift. I can't even think of the consequences. It would be a fucking crime to humanity!

Average gameplay mechanics.

Faulty A.I.

Better stealth titles at its time

A "cliche" concept wise

Yet saying all that this was one of the more underrated games of that era in my book. With all those complaints somehow someway that rockstar fairy dust hits the disc and its way more fun and interesting than it had any right to be.

uggh can they please upload more ps2 games at a time!
if not at least make better remakes.
I'd love for them to upload Warriors of Might and Magic & Shifters!

I find it funny that this article is on the front page near the "desensitization" article, which has Manhunt used as a study tool.

I know it's controversial but it's also a fairly fun game

Don't fall for it, save your money for the PS4 because PS3 PSN purchases won't roll over to the PS4.

Earning money on past games, instead of backward compatibility. Pretty shitty.

I think it was the setting, the grittiness....and some EXCELLENT voice acting, it all sucked you in! Brian Cox absolutely NAILED Lionel Starkweather!

Yea Manhunt was kind of a disappointment for me. Even at 17 years old I found it pretty dull. The games violence didn't effect me at all. Was cool to play around with at first, but the game became immensely repetitive. I really didn't see what the big deal was about Manhunt besides the obvious violence. But even the violence wasn't that bad. Sneak, Wait for red, kill. Big Whoop.

At that time, I had seen "Stick Death" animations on the web that were more violent.

I had Socom 2 at that point, which is a much better game and I was addicted to the online multiplayer. After about 2 days of Manhunt, I was back online killing terrorist.

@PSYCHOV3N0M HD remake of GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas, place them in to a HD collection. I would be in Heaven!! IF only Rockstar would do this!!

racerxgundam

@PSYCHOV3N0M Instead of a san andreas remake..i rather they update some of the titles from before GTAIII. but i am going to "like" your comment since who can really be that against a san andreas remake anyways :)

crunchb3rry
crunchb3rry

@PSYCHOV3N0M San Andreas in HD would be the best damn appetizer for the next GTA. I'd play that all the way up until the new one showed up in the mail.

@Nirvi_ jeez why save your cash? you can own a ps4/ps3 drrrrrrrr and who the hell is going to get a ps4 right away save your cash wait a year or so to see if it's any good

Tekken312
Tekken312

@shuwar I don't mind it too much.  I'm currently playing Vice City Stories on PS3. I never owned it before, so it was worthwhile for me to download of PSN.

@shuwar Well, I think that PSN titles do count for backward compatibility!

Johny_47
Johny_47

@saxdawg00 @racerxgundam I agree completely but you missed out one or two important things, the just as dark and gritty sound and music by Craig Connor.

I have the soundtrack on its own and friggin heck, I didn't quite notice how dark it is until I listened to it on its own.

I'd love Rockstar to make a new Manhunt for the 'next gen' stuff but if the older one was banned I'm almost certain the newer one would be because of the higher detail etc, shame =P

SNESNOSTALGIA2
SNESNOSTALGIA2

I actually think both scenarios are good. Either save you're $$$ and avoid the pre-ps4 milking (because the games don't/won't carry over) or keep playing the already excellent ps3 while you see how the ps4 develops. Either way you can't go wrong. Both completely different but equally good ideas!

shuwar
shuwar

@Tekken312 @shuwar Yes, but with backward compatibility you could buy a PS 2 version probably cheaper. And you wouldn't have to but all the old games you own to play them again.

somebody337
somebody337

@jflkdjs @shuwar Buying a Cd and having to buy the album over again to put it on a Ipod is not backwards compatibility :p

OuTLaWzGaming
OuTLaWzGaming

@BillyColeman @OuTLaWzGaming WOW  man thank you haha Ive been looking all this time for FF2 and it wasnt on PSN not even a month ago and there it is now for only 9.99$. Downloading it right now.

racerxgundam
racerxgundam

@somebody337 @jflkdjs @shuwar If you think PSN is the same as owning physical copies and having some form of backward compatibility...then all i got to say is that is NOT a thumb...sony is going all out no vaseline on you.
