Take-Two Interactive has announced Mall Tycoon, its upcoming strategy game that lets players create and manage their own shopping center. The game features more than 250 stores ranging from tattoo parlors to high-class clothing boutiques. Players must hire and oversee various mall employees such as janitors, guards, and greeters, and they must watch out for shoplifters, mall punks, and supernatural creatures.

In addition to stores and employees, players can add attractions such as movie theaters, roller coasters, and miniature golf courses, as well as special events such as Santa Claus and Easter Bunny appearances, fashion shows, haunted houses, boat shows, and rock concerts. Players will also be able to upload their custom malls onto the Internet to share them with other players. The game will include a number of different scenarios as well as a free-build mode.

Mall Tycoon is in development at 12853Holistic Design , the Atlanta-based studio that created Merchant Prince II , Merchant Prince II , and Merchant Prince II , and it is scheduled for release in January 2002. For more information, visit the new official Mall Tycoon Web site.
