Major Assassin's Creed III patch next week

Multiplatform "Thanksgiving Patch" hitting next week fixes a range of single-player and multiplayer issues, reduces difficulty on certain chase missions.

by

Ubisoft will release a major patch for Assassin's Creed III next week, the company has announced. The extensive "Thanksgiving Patch" will roll out at the end of next week for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will address a range of issues in the game's single- and multiplayer components.

According to the patch notes on the Ubisoft forums, the update will fix missing audio issues and squash a range of bugs related to NPCs walking in circles and players getting stuck in certain areas. Additionally, the patch will make certain chase sequences easier.

The full patch notes (which contain numerous spoilers) are available on the Ubisoft forums. It is not clear if a similar patch will be made available for the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III, which is due out on Sunday. A Ubisoft representative was not immediately available for comment.

Fixing bugs is nice, but lower difficulty? what the hell?  The only somewhat challenging chase in the game was with Charles Lee and even that only had a slightly tricky beginning.

The game is unplayable on PC, beacuse of frame rate issues, Ubisoft fix your shity console port game now, so I can enjoy it on a modern machine not a 6 year old outdated console!

hey ubisoft you could make the biggest, most fully featured game in the world....by the time its actually ready to be played I'll be paying $15 for it.

They need to patch the game so it runs at a steady frame rate... :)

Could be worse I suppose, at least they recognise that they made a mistake and are trying to remedy it.

What happens to gamers living in places where connecting to the internet is sometimes not an option? Did they just spend 60 dollars on an unfinished product?

I hate how game developers are making beta testers out of us. Gamers appreciate a flawless gaming experience, and yes, i believe they ARE willing to wait for such. To devs, please do not to rush these games.

I'm about halfway through, so this will be cool. I will admit though...once I finish the game, I highly doubt I'll do another playthrough. This game for some reason doesn't beckon multiple playthroughs...imo. Gettin burnt on have to repeat missions to reach all "objectives". Gets old after a while...

Oh well thats swell...too bad I finished the damn game on Saturday.

And here I was, hoping there would be some fix for those stupid "expose weak point" naval missions.

And there was me thinking this game can't get any easier...*sigh*

At least gaming company's should give us something in return because we're actually working like beta-testers for them!!!! You lousy morons!!!!!!

"the patch will make certain chase sequences easier."

WTF? Seriously? If you're going for 100% synchronization getting the 'Perfectionist' achievement in this game is a piece of piss. It's a ridiculously easy game overall. Ubisoft, stop making games my grandma can beat and learn something from Demon's/Dark Souls. Hearing this news is just insulting.

Since they can just patch the game after release most developers don't care about the glitches so they rush the games and release it with tons of glitches and then they can just release a patch a few weeks later.

If we couldn't download patches then most games nowadays wouldn't do too well now would they?

After the Diablo 3 disaster i learned my lesson: never buy a game on launch.

I recently read a PR statement talking about how the PC version would be more stable than the console versions... but what does this really mean.  I have a sneaky suspicion that they are referring to the on disc console versions without the day one patch or this up coming one.   ...Either way I'm holding out a couple more days for the PC version assuming the DRM isn't too bad.

I'd settle for my guns staying as the ones I selected and side missions showing up on the map. Chases are at a fine difficultly?

About damn time. Too bad I'm already at 99% completion of the game.

Jofi_griff0610

First off.... Making the game easier? Stupid idea. The games aren't that hard ! Yes on some missions you need to try a few times, but its not that bad? I like a challenging game personally! Seriously people wonder why games quality drop to be too easy and sloppy, because at the end of the day game makers are bored of fat gits telling them its too hard because there hand eye coordination is shitty and there thumbs so fat it squashes all the buttons!

Hey I have no prior experiences with patches, are they going to ship out AC3 games with the npatch installed or do you download it onto your console?

The problem with every modern 7th gen game, in the old days with was just a PC thing and even then not nearly this bad.

It's coming to a point were games are only worth after a year, when all or most bugs are fixed and DLC is thrown in the disc as well.

aneed4peed
aneed4peed

Yep, patches are needed. AC3 is the glitchiest AC game i've played so far. So many issues! Great game but the glitches have to go!

Vodoo
Vodoo

This is definitely the best AC game, but it's ridiculously sloppy. There are soooo many bugs in the single player that I was surprised that it was released like that.

@WaffenLV If it's unplayable you're computer must be garbage.

AlexFili

@vin_ke True but on the flip side, it persuades people to get a legit copy, and not be stuck with the pirated buggy version. However I do see what you mean, and would like there to be some method of patching for those who struggle for online connections.

@NeOmeGamer

I don't see how making a patch for some serious glitch issues makes the game " easier". Considering I have encountered everything from people clipping into the ground to being frozen mid-way through throwing a dart at a target who dies before it reaches it, I'd say its well overdue. Granted, I did finish the game, but bugs, glitches and poorly designed mechanics made parts of it incredibly frustrating, and it had nothing to do with the "difficulty" of the game.

@NeOmeGamer I'd like to see you saying that again when you try to go for a 100%  Sync single playthrough.

Slade968

@Morokoo This is especially true on PC and usually the reason I give the game a couple weeks before I buy it. I'll probably make an exception this time and buy AC3 when it is released on the 20th (PC).

Who knows, maybe there won't be any bugs and it will be a joy to play all the way through without any complications. Then perhaps later that day I'll win the lottery and go on to meet Kate Upton in a bar. It could happen...

I never buy a game at launch. Always wait a month or two before picking it up. Chances are you will get it at a cheaper price as well.

@Accuracy158 They've had a few more weeks to get rid of a few bugs. In all honesty though, and I'm a die hard PC gamer, I'm betting anything that console version, after this patch, will be more stable. There are more configurations to PC's than the set hardware in consoles. I think they're just trying to sell some PC copies as a second mini release by feeding us PC gamers lies. AC3 for consoles was just fine, a minor glitch here and there but was the game unplayable? No. Go on the internet and find some funny glitches that people have recorded. Good times. As for the DRM, I'll have to download a bypass crack because I don't enjoy having spyware on my computer, or a large company knowing what all I have inside of my hard drives.

kwdblade

@Ardus Exactly. I knew this would happen too...finish the game and bam, a patch comes out. Oy...

@aneed4peed  You must haven't played Skyrim, I still haven't finished the game , but until now, its glitches are more bearable than Skyrim and Darksouls.

old_man_mossy
old_man_mossy

@Vodoo Perhaps they should have taken 4 years to develop it instead of 3....lol.

The more vast and straining a product, the more glitches and bug fixes it will need. Look at last years game of the year Skyrim...same sorta behaivor.

Not to mention, I believe the guys at Ubi said this game pushed the last gen HD's pretty hard. Curious to see if those patches fix all the complaints. Ive been listening alot and it seems many mistake lag, drop ins, and lock ups as glitches. Thats your system telling you "Holy Crap I cant handle the awesome"

On this I am an expert, lol, been playing some cross platform releases on the wii for awhile..Cod's are ridiculous, so are any latter 3rd party game that pushed the system.

Curious  to see how many "glitches" the Wii U reports, as its suppose to do 60 fps at 1080 rather consistantly.

what the hell are you talking man, my pc is a gamers' computer and work everything like hell, but except this shitty port and there are millions as well!!! stop you garbage comment instead will you??? :@ shit people are soo stupid being and acting like a lawyer...

NeOmeGamer
NeOmeGamer

@kwdblade I hear you folks, but I am yet to encounter any of these glitches, I must be the luckiest ACIII owner in the world i guess, besides im going for 100% and so far i have finished all Citizen sidemissions without a single bug. Aforementioned 'chase sequences' weren't hard at all. In New York i simply run in different direction and cut his path midway and just jump on him. Deal done. It's not a game problem it's people who can't think outside of the box. It's and open world. Sure it has occasional hiccups here and there but overall, considering how big the world is - these are minor issues that Ubi will iron out. Nevertheless, great game and thats what matters. But still, waaay to easy :P

AlexFili
AlexFili

@Slade968  @Morokoo Well from what I hear, the PC version will be getting all the patches that the other versions will get, so we'll have a less buggy release than the consoles.

 @billlabowski  Amen dude!

Something just clicked for me:

I wonder how the idea for 'Watch Dogs' came along?

Watch Dogs = the theft of all OTHERS information. But it's a bullshit video game.

uPlay = the theft of all OUR information. But it's actually real life.

@Zabc0  Dude, instead of firing blindly about other people's computers and intellect, read around forums, that way you'll see that  this is a major, MAJOR issue with the game's PC edition. FPS drops when reaching the first city to literally unplayable levels, on  PCs which run stuff like BF3 and Crysis like liquid. I too suffer with this and stopped playing until they fix this.

Zabc0
Zabc0

@huseyinnn1905  @WaffenLV Yeah, clearly I'm the stupid one. Now to make it easy to understand, you're either doing something wrong or you're exaggerating  with the "unplayable" part, if your computer is as good as you say it is. Also if you know how to find out, what processor and GPU do you have?
