Majesco forecast calls for BloodRayne

Vixen vampire returns this summer in Xbox Live and PlayStation Network game developed by WayForward.

by

Vampires are a hearty lot, with few known weaknesses aside from sunlight and a stake through the heart. As it turns out, not even a series of Uwe Boll-directed film adaptations can permanently destroy the undead bloodsuckers.

With luck, WayForward will be able to capture the tasteful and nuanced character design for which the series is known.

Majesco Entertainment today announced that its undead femme fatale BloodRayne is making a comeback this summer in a new downloadable game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. BloodRayne: Betrayal will be a 2D side-scrolling action game, with the titular half-vampire warrior and a new ally working together to thwart the plans of a group of evil vampires.

The game is in development at WayForward Technologies. It will be the first Xbox 360 or PS3 title for the studio, which has to date specialized in Wii and handheld games. The developer has worked on a number of recognizable and critically well-received titles, including Contra 4, Batman: The Brave and the Bold - The Videogame, A Boy and His Blob, and Lit.

Good game, but not as good as the first 2 games. I hope they come out with a Bloodrayne 3 game with updated 3D graphics like from the 2nd game and back to the M+ rating and still with Laura Bailey voicing Rayne..

i played bloodrayne 1 and 2. They both definitely needed improvement but i loved the concept so i played them anyways. In this case, I do love side scollers, however its not the direction id like to see from a bloodrayne title. I think i'll purchase this game and play it, 1. to support the title, and 2. in hopes that it won't be that bad of a game. With luck they'll come out with a full bloodrayne 3

I'm a hugh BloodRayne fan, however, I'm not going to buy this, it looks to me like it's some sort of cheap phone app. that they're trying to milk the fans for big bucks.

HOPEFULLY this will just be Rayne dipping her feet in to test the waters and see if she still has an audience. When BloodRayne first came out, I thought I'd take a chance on it, and it kicked ass. Then, BloodRayne 2 came out, and it was WAY better (the ending is sweet... you don't stop the Vampire apocalypse, you just kill Kagan). I hope this just gears people up for BR3! >fingercrossed

Majesco Games is to compete with successful franchises like Devil May Cry, God of War, etc. The company fared poorly last time it tried which is probably why we might get this 2D Bloodrayne game later this year instead a more ambitious sequel. Still, I will buy it. I enjoyed the first two games and bought Infected to unlock Bloodrayne. WayForward better do a good job, or we might lose the franchise forever.

I was hoping for a HD upgrade collectors edition of Blood Rayne 1 & 2 for $20 on XBox 360 and PS3.

Heck i'd rather a have updated HD DLC version of Bloodrayne 1+2 with achievements/trophies that would make me happy

I have no interest in downloadable games. If I can't rent it then I don't care. Paying before playing (and a demo doesn't cut it) is not cool. Same goes for DLC.

i was hoping for a 3D sequel, the games aren't amazing but they have potential, they shouldve tried like a devil may cry meets bayonetta type of game for bloodrayne, oh well, maybe this one will be worth a few bucks

well...they have a really good track record. ive played 3 of the 4 mentioned games and they all solid good games. bloodrayne 1 wasnt bad...never played 1st. This could be good.

You know, I had zero interest in the 3d iterations. But I'm an oldschool 2d fan, so if they do a good job on this, I wouldn't be beyond giving them a few bucks to try it out.

Eh... I want a real sequel, not some 2D scroller. Also what that FMA Lust girl, to do Rayne's VA again....

Well its good to see that Majesco is taking a break from making DS games and Cooking Mama game so they can give a few of their old school fans a little love and attention. Though simplifying the series into a 2d side scroller? Please just sell the property to another studio that could do the series justice, bring it back to its former glory.

Oh man, I used to love Bloodrayne. I was hoping they would keep that franchise going. This is good news.

Much like this article, I also like to use the word titular when talking about a busty character. We know what you're doing! ;-)
