Magic Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 coming Xbox, PC, and mobile this summer

Publisher hasn't said if we’ll see a PlayStation version of the game in the future.

Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015, the latest installment in the popular Duels of the Planeswalkers trading card game franchise, will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and mobile devices this summer.

Publisher Wizards of the Coast hasn’t said when or if it will announce a version of the game for PlayStation platforms. The last entry in the series, Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014, was released on PlayStation 3.

Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 will pit players against the deadliest hunter in the Magic Multiverse, Garruk Wildspeaker. It promises to engage players like never before, with new features including the ability to build customized decks, new booster packs with premium downloadable content, and a more robust deck builder.

If you’re interested but never played it before, Magic: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 is currently 50 percent off on Xbox Live Arcade.

So I looked at a IGN spoiler, seems like the whole campain will be around custom decks. Good news: Nobody should really have the same deck, unless they borrowed the idea from somewhere.

And here is the bad news: They restricted a card section labeled "Premium Cards" where you can only get them by buying booster packs which are randomized, but you can only get them with IRL $$$. From what I have seen, these arent game breaking cards, but would be hella good to add to decks for more fluidity. If you are one of those guys who wanna 100% the game, this time it requires $$$.

The custom deck mode in 2014 was a too limited, glad they are looking at that, good news though, love these games.

I just wish they'd bring back the ArchEnemy mode.  :(

What's up with no Playstation version? These were enjoyable if rather easy. Have bought each version for the last few years but guess that's one less sale they'll get :(

Finally a deck builder! Hearthstone has nothing on Magic as far as I am concerned. Will keep this in mind.

Am new to this series but I hope it isn't pay to win like Hearthstone.

Another year, another new core set, another new DotP game. Whoohoo. Also Garruk Wildspeaker was in every modern DotP game, not sure why this is worth a mention. There has to be a green beast deck, after all.

@collingtonuk  I was so excited when I heard they were allowing custom decks and then I played the game.  Disappointed. Hope 2015 is actually has "custom" deck building.

@tommynj In previous games in the series, while you could buy keys to unlock decks and cards immediately, you can unlock everything by just playing the single player campaign.  Hopefully they'll continue with the established format and not try any of that FtP garbage.

@RossRichard I'm thinking that's because last year's edition was based around Chandra, and supposedly each character will have its feature yearly game. Nothing really changes except for the story-driven campaign.

@nparks @tommynj  Agreed with this. With a solid deck builder added to a formula I already like should make this worth any magic the gathering fan. I wish people still played the card game like they used to. My Black Lotus and Mox's are just so dusty in my basement.
