Lost Planet PC demo found

Capcom's ice-cold shooter makes its way to the PC in two flavors in this GameSpot demo premiere.

by

The demo for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is now available, allowing PC gamers to shoot alien bugs and ice pirates with a variety of weapons, both in and out of heavily armed combat mechs. This demo is out in two versions, one designed for DirectX 9 and one for DirectX 10, and both offer two single-player levels: invade an Akrid hive or assault an ice-pirate fortress.

Also now available are patches for Dofus and Two Worlds, an updated demo for Massive Assault Network 2, a map pack for Doom 3 OpenCoop, a new version of Frets on Fire, and mods for Half-Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, and Frets on Fire.

I downloaded this and got the same error everyone else got all you have to do is go to microsoft downloads and get directx redistributable download sdk reinstall direct x and it corrects the error the game is pretty cool nice physics and graphics running it on an Nvidia 7600 GS AGP 512mb, P4 3.4ghz socket 478 32bit with 2gb of ram on an MSI board. Controls need to be remapped for to those more commonly used. I just remapped them to match FARCRY, I keep getting killed but it's all good.

the game is IMPOSSIBLE to run with my specs, and I can run C&C3 with medium settings easily, but this game is so bad coded that I cannot even run it smooth with everything disabled... it's lame!!! My system is not perfect, but this is extreme, I never lagged in any game before, and this one I get 9 FPS at best !!! Man, capcom will have a hard time finishing it for the PC... I hope they code it better than this for the final version, lol, or they won't sell it to a lot of people ( only big rig )

I've so far downloaded both the DX9 and DX10 demos. Rig: e6600 Core2Duo 2gb Ram XFX8800GTX Extreme XP and Vista In XP on DX9 I get 30FPS at the 1280x1024 with everything maxed in Vista on DX10...... wait for it...... wait for it.... a huge 10fps with it bombing out on the first big alien. Every other game I have (including stalker and C&C3) runs 60fps average at max res max detail. The only thing I can see doing it is the snow effect.. I hope this is just a problem with the demo!

I have tried to download this demo three times and always it is never completely downloaded. Problem after problem, missing dll or other files. If this is an indication of the final product, never mind, I will wait for something else.

PC gamers should check this out. I would be interested to see if any additional content is available, or what kind of mods will be released for the game as time goes on. While I wouldn't have called it a revolution in gameplay for the 360, it certainly added some heat to my cold gaming winter. Enjoy it, PC playas!

****!!! If I knew this was coming out on the PC I might not have bought the 360 version. At the very least, I would've waited for the review of the PC version. You never really know what you're getting when it comes to console ports! Although, a DX10 version might be worth it regardless of how well the gameplay itself ports. Mmmmm, pretty.

I'll stick with Lost Planet for the 360 for now.

The game was great but at times the graphics surpassed my PC hardware expectations, but I give it 8.5 none the less. I swear to god I have a great PC and half way thru the demo I get a message saying "Your PC performance is low."

That's pretty cool. I know I am excited. I'll be building a new rig in the summer/fall when the price war between AMD vs. NVIDIA settles and DDR3 is out, and obviously Bearlake (I'm a fan of AMD, but I'll have to go Intel for now until Phenom bears fruit). Anyway, this is a cool extra reason for doing so, it's one of the only respectable reasons to want DX10 at the moment. Good stuff.

PC graphics would probably be superior (at least in resolution) depending on your setup, of course. Can't wait to download the demo later!

This is good for PC gamers. But, I already have the demo on my 360 and the graphics would suck on my computer compared to the 360.
