Last week, Capcom held its Captivate 09 blowout event, offering new or updated looks at a number of its upcoming games, including Dead Rising 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Bionic Commando, and Dark Void. As part of that event, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi also offered a first look at Lost Planet 2, the sequel to 2007's well-regarded Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

Along with offering a number of fresh new details on the project, Takeuchi revealed that gamers will soon have a chance of their own to go hands-on with the title. As part of his presentation, Takeuchi confirmed that a Lost Planet 2 demo is expected to arrive alongside a host of new details concerning the game as part of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, which runs June 2-4. Unfortunately, Takeuchi did not delve into any details of what gamers can expect from the sampler.

Thus far, Lost Planet 2 has been confirmed only for the Xbox 360. However, a month before the game was officially announced, Takeuchi told Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that new installments in Dead Rising and Lost Planet "will be on multiple platforms."

The original Lost Planet demo came out on the Xbox 360 at E3 the year it was announced. Glad to see them making it a tradition... _

@ talonkard044: You say: "'Wanted' is actually better than 'Lost Planet'." --- Opening with that phrase the rest of your arguments are disqualified. You just won't get it.

After reading this, I'm going to pick up and finish the original. It was a great rental.

In response to SalarianChemist aka Greatest 360 Fanboy > "Lost Planet is one of the best shooters released so far this generation." Seriously? The game is mediocre. Sure it's good, but nothing compared to the REAL top shooters of this generation. I put it along side the likes of Matt Hazard and Wanted. Hell, Wanted is actually better than Lost Planet. "Lost Planet 2 is going to live up to the highest standards of measurement set by great games such as Halo 3 and Rainbow Six: Vegas. For example, the fact that Lost Planet 2 is going to have four-player Co-Op similar to Halo 3 is a great feature!" You mean the highest standars of measurement... FOR 360 GAMES. Nothing 360 has produced thus far had come close to MGS4, Uncharted etc. Resistance 2 had 8-player co-op :) 50+ missions and they switched each time you would play. "I don't think it matters whether or not Lost Planet 2 is released on multiple platforms or not, because we all know that Lost Planet 2 will end up with better graphics and better online features on the Xbox 360, just like with the first Lost Planet and the Rainbow Six: Vegas games." RB6 1 and 2 did look better on 360, but they were exactly the same gameplay wise. I dunno, it could be because they were developed for PC'S first. 360 is basically very similiar to pc's as far as architecture goes, so yeah... Stop thinking that 360 is the best of the next gen consoles bud. It isn't.

@halo_wars86 "Takeuchi told Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that new installments in Dead Rising and Lost Planet "will be on multiple platforms." That could only mean so few things. They've obviously planned to have the games on both platforms from the start so there's no reason to hold back content.

i am not buying dead rising 2 or lost planet 2 until i am sure that the ps3 version does not get any more features because if ps3 get more features i am willing to wait a year for them.

Remember the beggining og Lost planet when your with all of the other soldiers and your going after the akrid in the big shelter? That was awesome, and LP2 looks to be like that but x10, im so happy they took all the advice the players(including me!) offered.

I wonder if we will have to again wait for the full game a year after the release of the demo version.

If the game is gonna be multiplatform or not. At the very least Takeuchi should be honest about it and just say if it's exclusive or timed-exclusive so gamers know what to expect. I'm still excited about MvC2. =)

Capcom is on a roll! Now all they need to do is bring Final Fight to the download networks and I'll be set!

@Harerazer How do you know most people do a PS3/HDTV and 360/SDTV? Isn't this game only announced for 360 atm?

ryokinshin6x3

Why would you build an Xbox 360? and the PC version would have the best everything....unless Capcom screws up.

@Salarian So if the XB360 version looks better then is that reason enough for me to spend $700 trying to build a 360 that's equal to the base PS3 hardware? Is it going to have extra levels due to it "looking better"? I think I'd rather spend the $60 for the game and look at it on my PS3/HDTV combo...which looks better than the 360/SDTV combo most people have. I can't understand how people continually contend that A) the XB360 looks better than anything in true 1080p and B) that the looks of ANY game make it any better anyway. Neither M$ nor Sony have yet to create a Mario Kart or Smash Bros. beater and they only do composite cables. Graphics whores are so funny.

I dropped something last night. A deuce. Lost Planet 2 looks great, though. Hope it has a PC release, too.

I'm so glad theyr'e making this sequel. i work at a Gamestop, and I try to push this game when people ask about shooters for next gen systems, and most people have never even heard of it. I think the first one is an amazing game and this one looks to be miles better. I'm also really excited about the new engine they're using. It looks really nice.
