Looks like Far Cry 4 is getting a $30 DLC season pass

GameStop listing reveals DLC pass will be available across Xbox and PlayStation consoles, but there's no word yet on what it might include.

It looks like Ubisoft's upcoming action game Far Cry 4 is getting a DLC season pass. Retailer GameStop has listed a $30 Far Cry 4 Season Pass for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. There's no mention of a PC version of the Far Cry 4 DLC pass on GameStop's website.

It's unclear what the Far Cry 4 Season Pass will include, but the product pages say the offering will go on sale alongside the game in November. We have reached out to Ubisoft for further comment and will update this story with anything we hear back.

If the Far Cry 4 DLC pass is indeed real, it won't be much of a surprise, as Ubisoft offered a similar pass for last fall's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and will make one available for next week's open-world action game Watch Dogs.

2012's Far Cry 3 welcomed four expansion packs, all of which were later bundled into the Far Cry 3: Deluxe Bundle.

In addition, just last week, Ubisoft top management said that the company not only wants to sell more games, but also more digital items for those games. DLC passes are a way to do that.

Far Cry 4, which has "a lot more multiplayer" than Far Cry 3, launches November 18.

Here's a suggestion...

Stop Buying Season Passes!

Nice early announcement for their shareholders. "We are going to squeeze them dry folks, keep faith in our shares".

too soon man too soon no gameplay vids, not much on story. why cant you just wait

Why don't they just make all games $90 and give you the season pass? I think the only game without a season pass option is zoo tycoon.

80 comments and all basically saying the same thing... YAWN. Y'all suckas will still buy it

The only thing I want from this game is the ability to hang-glide off the summit of Everest.

No.

Looks like I'll just wait a year for a "Complete Edition" for $40.

Or you could buy The Witcher 3 for $60 and have a full game instead.

I wish the majority stood against this but I know some gamers will gladly pay through the nose for DownLoadableCrap. Vote with your wallets guys, I'm waiting for the complete edition for sure.

F*ck multiplayer.  I don't give two sh*ts about "farcry 4 has a lot more multiplayer".  It's actually bad news.  And the DLC pass is probably only mp maps.

I really think there should be a subheading under the title that says 'Because Ubisoft'.

DLCs, or at least how the majority of publishers/developers use them, are a cancer of the gaming industry. And we, the customers, are the chemo. We need to stop enabling their bull**** and make a statement with our wallets.

Just don't pay for them and they'll stop making this BS Season Pass routine

chaos-06

$30 for a season pass? No thanks. Pretty soon, these season passes will cost the same as the full game. At that price, the DLC had better be a 15 hour separate campaign in an entirely new location or something.

This year new game sales will dip a little further, and publishers will blame piracy, the economy, the IP's, the developers, and the gamers themselves. Meanwhile, to make up for the falling sales, DLC prices will get jacked up again, and if we're lucky, the $60 vanilla price might just jump to $70.

I just hope it's story/mission add-ons only. Don't give me character skins and other BS like watchdogs.

Its not that I hate season passes and continued support POST launch, but its like come on, to announce any 'additional' content that will be only playable as downloadable content this early is just stupid

I understand 'extra' content technically gets made before games release, but then keep it to yourselves. Its not like gamers arent going to buy an upcoming game because of unannounced dlc.

LOL $30 season pass? UBI you so funny.

But I digress this is common practice and unless you people start voting with your wallets this scourge to gaming will never go away. Ask yourself why do Pubs like EA and UBI treat the video game consumer base like female dogs? Because they are.

HERO PREASE! probably wont buy this, depends... the only seasons pass worth it so far for me has been Battlefield 4.

It's so cringeworthy to think we've reached the point that the first information on the game itself outside of a poster, is that there will be a dlc pass. Who are the morons who keep buying into this stuff?

Remember when Far Cry was good, and not an exploitable cash bag dangled from the ceiling?

I Got Far Cry Classic, FC :Instincts and Evolution and FC 2 all for around $20 combined on XBL's summer Sale. Want to get the new one with DLC for  reasonable price? just wait about a year or  more after launch. No reason to rush out and buy this when it does come out unless you only want to play multiplayer.

Really looking forward to the day when "AAA" drives itself out of business. Maybe when standard editions are $70, with $50 season passes and microtransactions to boot.

Hmmmm... But that game only comes out in the next half decade. I can't wait that long!

spartanx169x

@chaos-06 Season pass for COD is/was $50 while the game is/was $60. So not too far from that now.

@DamnILoveGames Remember the golden retriever from the movie "Up"? Imagine the gamer equivalent of that.

@Thanatos2k "Far Cry" being interchangeable with....

"Assassin's Creed"

"Battlefield"

"Dead Space"

"SimCity"

"Call of Duty" (yes, IMO CoD was good years ago)

...and many more

spartanx169x
spartanx169x

@unreal849 For me with the direction it is going, I'm becoming  very picky as to what I buy at launch vs what I will wait to buy. If I have no real interest in multi--player, I'll just wait. IF I'm really interested in MP then I'll buy just so I'll be on the same learning curve as everybody else.  Right now that's only about 6 titles. Don't see that changing. I can't be good at everything.

sirchick

@spartanx169x @chaos-06  that doesn't make the price justified because COD did it.

If anything COD put even less effort in both the base game and the DLC more so than any other game in history. There game has not evolved at all since MW:1 and they justify a full retail price... sadly sucks still buy it !

unreal849
unreal849

@spartanx169x @unreal849  Yeah, I'm getting that way too. I used to be excited about getting my anticipated games on release day, but the milking and total lack of respect for the customer is getting too much.

I'm guessing that the only thing I will buy day one this year (aside from Wolfenstein and DS2) will be the Halo 1-4 Collection on X1. I already know my friends and I are going to play that to death, so it'll be worth it. Everything else can wait.

shingui5
shingui5

@Thanatos2k @shingui5 @unreal849

The amount of corporate BS being thrown at Watch Dogs, has pretty much killed any enthusiasm i had for that game.

I mean, have you seen that bloody spreadsheet?

unreal849
unreal849

@spartanx169x @unreal849 Borderlands is weird to me. I have fun while I'm playing it, but it leaves absolutely no emotional impression, so I never actually want to go back and play it more. Meanwhile, I get cravings to go and play games I haven't touched in years, haha.

spartanx169x
spartanx169x

@unreal849 @spartanx169x I might regret Destiny. But I absolutely love Borderlands 2. I find myself missing BL2 and will pull it out to play when I can't decide what to play. At first about Destiny, I was excited, then I was disappointed Then I became excited again now that I have read a lot more about it. ITs like Borderlands Star Wars and Halo all combined. Which I love all three so its seems like I'll be ok. Will see. .....

unreal849
unreal849

@spartanx169x @unreal849  I keep trying to get psyched for Destiny, but I just can't do it. Nothing good ever came of forcing co-op and MMO mechanics onto campaign content. Just look at Borderlands and SWTOR - it was fun for a while, but after it's done, it leaves no impression.

spartanx169x
spartanx169x

@unreal849 @spartanx169x Destiny will most likely be the only game I pay full price for this year.  will probably try to catch some of the new releases on a Black Friday sale in November. I'm sure Watch Dogs will be$40 or less on Black Friday. Same for Wolfenstein.
