Little Big Planet Vita street date lifted

Game's September 25 North American launch date dropped, with retailers allowed to sell title once they receive copies; no online play until tomorrow.

Little Big Planet for the PlayStation Vita is arriving early. A Sony representative has told Game Informer that the game's September 25 street date in North America has been lifted, with retailers allowed to sell the game once shipments arrive.

Gamers may not need to wait until Sept. 25 to play LBP on Vita.

Separately, Sony PR manager Eric Levine addressed the issue on the PlayStation Blog, saying the game appeared on store shelves ahead of its planned launch due to "excitement" from retailers.

The representative also confirmed that those who picked up an early copy of Little Big Planet Vita will not be able to utilize the game's online services until tomorrow.

Seems a little unfair to those retailers, and the customers who have pre-ordered from those retailers who will be getting their shipments last. The reason behind it is a bit weird too. I'd imagine there has been many more games that retailers have been even more excited about in the past.

I was confused initially as to why my local GameStop called me to tell me they would have the game this Friday. Now I know, and I can't wait to get this game into mah pantaloons.

I hope it doesn't have any features drastically different from LB2

Man I hope this helps Vita sales. While I didn't jump on the wagon, yet, for it, I still may get one eventually. And I certainly don't want the handheld market to disappear or be left to smartphones and nintendo *shudder*

Wow, I can't remember ever hearing about a game that released ahead of schedule. Has this happened before? I'd be curious to know.

Apparently this version is even better than the console ones. Great time to own a Vita.

Always good thing, should push Vita sales especially seeing as LBP is a platform all in itself with the creative tools, all good news but being in the UK got to wait still... oh well. Can't wait!

I got a shipping notification yesterday and it's scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Great day tomorrow, pick up Borderlands 2 and F1 2012 in the morning and LBP comes in the afternoon. I'm retired and love it when new games hit, looking forward to tomorrow!!

I'm glad specialized high-quality Vita titles like this are coming out now ,  Little Big Planet isn't a franchise that interests me and I still so no real reason for me (personally) to get a Vita , but I'm hope this means it can sell some units.

Sweet.  This is another one I can play with my daughter.  She loves LBP2 and this series seems perfect for the Vita.

@armodillo17 Transformers: Fall of Cybertron's release date was actually pushed forward a week or so earlier than initially planned, but I've never heard of a publisher throwing a release date out the window altogether. Very unusual.
