Listen to Mario Kart 8's entire soundtrack right now

Ahead of the Wii U game's release this month, entire official soundtrack posted to YouTube.

Mario Kart 8 for Wii U doesn't arrive for another few weeks, but the game's entire official soundtrack is now available for your listening pleasure at the YouTube video above.

The songs include impressive guitar riffs and the kind of upbeat and snappy themes that the Mario Kart series has become known for. It's also worth pointing out that "most" of the Mario Kart 8 music was recorded by live performers. This is a first for the entire Mario Kart series.

Mario Kart 8 launches May 30 exclusively for Wii U. The game includes 32 total courses--16 are new and 16 are remakes (and there's two Rainbow Roads!). If you buy Mario Kart 8, Nintendo will give you an extra game for free--and the options are nothing to sneeze at. A special $330 Mario Kart 8 Wii U premium bundle will also be available at launch.

Mario Kart 8 confirmed 1080p/60fps for up to 2 players. Then 1080p/30fps for 3 and 4 players.

That is a magnificent soundtrack. Better than the DKTF sound track to my mind.

Does it include any Megadeth, Monster Magnet, or White Zombie?

When it comes to fun, catchy video game music, Nintendo rarely dissapoints

Why would you link to a random Youtube channel, instead to the official MK8 website (where all of this tunes come from)?

Wow!  Reminds me of so many Sega games from the past.  Seems well suited for the arcade style action.

Every aspect of this game is perfect so far, items, beautiful tracks, best looking game so far of next (current) gen, incredible music. May 30th can not come soon enough!

Both catchy and atmospheric, I like it. It's not the best I've heard from Nintendo in terms of memorability, but I'm sure it'll fit the tracks and the style of the game very well.

Ah, I'll miss Maple Treeway though, the music in that stage was so memorable...

Now that's what I like to call crisp.  But it could use a bit more cowbell.

Too jazzy for my like. Where are those original melodies, it's way too random and mediocre so far.

@registeredpunk  I haven't listened yet but I immediately thought being live performed (for some songs) the sound will be drastically different and might put off a lot of people.

@Carpetfluff I actually prefer video game music over 'regular' music, because it reminds me of all the good times I had playing the games. I associate the music with something; it's not just random music. I also find that the melodies are often a lot more memorable and easier to hum/whistle, which is nice.

@sanchango @killjoi  Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, had my anniversary this past weekend.  I think Pikmin 3 because it's likely a good singleplayer game. I've already played Wind Waker on the Gamecube and Super Mario Bros U seems to get middling reviews.  That said I love me some SMB.

Yea when it comes to music, video game music is what I listen to all the time. This game exceeds my limits more on what I listen to in video games. Most of the stuff coming out nowadays is either not my taste or not very good. The only exception for me when it's not video game soundtracks is Disney movie and broadway soundtracks. Other than that it's all gaming for me. :P

@Tiwill44 @Carpetfluff  Oh I get that, and there are some game soundtracks I love just to listen to in their own right. It's not that I don't like the Mario tunes either, but they work best for me when I'm screeching around a bend firing a shell up Luigi's exhaust (no way to word this so it doesn't sound like innuendo). They're just not for me when it comes to standalone listening.

@Tiwill44 @Carpetfluff  I do this all the time.

I've pretty much shifted to listening to VGM exclusively.

The only "normal" music I listen to is just music I used to be into as a teen. Again for the same reason, nostalgia. I very rarely try to get into new music nowadays.

@Tiwill44

So true, and when it comes to nostalgia, I find music to be the most powerful in that regard.

Also as a dancer, I've been trying to find more sources of inspiration since I can't stand most modern American songs now and videogames has become one of those places I turned to.
