Limbo hitting iOS next week

Playdead's black-and-white platformer coming to iOS devices July 3 for $5; series sales climb to 3 million.

Playdead's black-and-white puzzle platformer Limbo will launch for iOS devices next week, the Danish developer announced today. The game will be available for $5 on July 3.

Limbo for iOS devices will feature an "amazing touch-based experience" and is compatible with iPad 2 (and higher), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (and higher), and the latest generation of iPod Touch.

The game sells for $15 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, while the PC/Mac version is available for $10.

Playdead said in a statement that its ambition has been to bring Limbo to as many devices as possible. This model is paying off for the developer, as the company also announced today that the game has sold 3 million units across PS3, Xbox 360, Steam, Mac, and PS Vita.

Limbo puts players in the shoes of a small child who must find his way through a black-and-white world, filled with puzzles and dangerous, often deadly, obstacles.

The game won critical acclaim upon release, which was followed by a small avalanche of award nominations that yielded multiple Interactive Achievement Awards and a Game Developers Choice Award.

I don't think iOS gamers have the attention span for an experience as amazing as Limbo.

I also doubt they will get the same feeling from the game considering the lack of immersion you would get from such small speakers and small screen.

An amazing game. If you can play it on another platform then catch it there, but if iOS is your only option then don't miss out.

Why is the game still 15$ on PSN? It is so old and should be 10$ at least like on the PC. It surprises me that some indie games still don't drop in price compared to 60$ games dropping as low as 20$ within a year.

Why do I feel like this should of happened a year ago?  Why is it now coming out on ios?

I admire Limbo, but when is Playdead going to put their resources into developing a new game? Feels like they've spent all these years using all that talent on just porting Limbo to various platforms.

@Gamer_4_Fun It's a small developer. They don't have the money EA has, ok. cut them some slack geez. is 15$ going to break your bank?

@Lhomity You guys aren't very informed, are you? Playdead announced their new game, similar to the first Limbo, last year.

@heat_masheet Limbo is one of the most successful indie games in the business, assuming the money flowed where it should have, these guys are filthy rich now. That's not really the issue at hand.

@heat_masheet I payed 15$ for games for AAA games which cost 60$. If you can't buy games cheaply then that's your problem. And no, I got a ton of great games for just 20$ which I still remember playing after 1 year. Maybe you should stop taking in whatever you take to clear your f*** memory and maybe..just maybe...you'll remember stuff.

@Gamer_4_Fun @heat_masheet Parity? you spend(i'm guessing) hundreds maybe a thousand dollars a years to play fucking video games. don't complain about paying an extra 5$ to play some sh!t game you'll forget in 5 days!
