Like free DLC? Xbox One's Forza 5 adding Long Beach circuit this week

Microsoft confirms that the famed southern California circuit will make its franchise debut Thursday, April 10.

Microsoft announced today that it will release the famed Long Beach circuit for Xbox One racing game Forza Motorsport 5 as free DLC on April 10. The new track will be added to the game via the latest Forza Motorsport 5 content update.

The Long Beach circuit, set in southern California, features tight turns and long straightaways. Its inclusion in Forza Motorsport 5 marks the first time the circuit has ever appeared in a Forza title.

Microsoft is promising a high degree of authenticity for the virtual depiction of the Long Beach circuit. The company boasts in a post on the Xbox Wire that it has recreated the course and its surrounding area with "obsessive precision" by laser scanning and poring over thousands of photos and hours of video.

"From the angles of each unique palm tree along Shoreline Drive to every nuance of the track's surface, this circuit is a racing experience unlike any other," Microsoft says.

The full 11-turn, 1.97-mile course is included, as well as the slightly shorter East Loop and the half-mile West Loop. Microsoft adds that the Long Beach circuit will be "fully integrated" with every Forza 5 game mode

Though the Long Beach circuit itself is free for all Forza 5 players, Microsoft will also offer a "Long Beach Booster Pack" featuring five cars to add to your garage: the 1977 Ford Coyote Gilmore77, the 1974 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale, the 1956 Jaguar D-Type, the 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG Mercedes CLK GTR, and the 1971 Ferrari #2 Ferrari Automobili 312 P.

Forza 5 Car Pass owners can download the car pack for free, though Microsoft did not say how much it will cost as a standalone download. We have reached out to Microsoft for comment.

I'm really enjoying Forza 5, but I just have one complaint. The weather. It's always a perfect, dry, sunny day. Every track, every time. I thought forza would have dynamic weather systems. I'd like to see things like rain and snow, and have it affect gameplay.

I suck so bad at racing games. Even bought a racing wheel but, my son just laughed his ass off watching me play. Maybe I should give the Xbox One version of Forza a try. Is it noob friendly or would I just get constantly slaughtered?

How about some night time racing, or some weather? Guessing we won't see any of that in Forza 5 :(

Still... I'm happy to be getting a new track. moar plz.

Thanks T10, but I would really appreciate the Nurburgring......

Oh, and where the hell is the damn Marketplace???

Considering this is the weakest one in the series ((Forza Motorsport 4 is still by far the best game in the series)), its only right that they give out free DLC.

I would be interested if Microsoft could put in a 1986 Toyota Cressida that was my first car to own i loved that car i miss that car. If they would put it in Forza 5 it would make me so happy i wonder if their would be a way to ask if Microsoft could do that.

What would be great is if they restored my account so I got all my customized cars back. That would be really great.

add Nurburgring and the game will be completed ( for me at least )

There is absolutely no reason for someone to be complaining. Its a free track.

But..but the microtransactons. lol!!

There isn't even any microtransaction is this game. It's called DLC that you can get with a season pass. Just like every other game on the market.

I'll download cause it's being given to XB1/XBL subscribers, but that doesn't mean my Day 1 Forza 5 will be more exciting.  Nurburgring anybody?

Still no Nordschleife. Knowing Turn 10 and Microsoft, they will charge for it.

so without reading, and with only preconcieved notions of what i heard of FM5, are they ever gonna turn the forza franchise around for long time supporters through fm1-4, or are they gonna keep giving it to us up the wazoo like the mad max DLC(cars and whole brands cut from game) and no care for fixing game breaking bugs? just a thought. To me, Turn10 is as good as dead.

@bdrtfm  You will get slaughtered. Its more realistic, but it does have automatic braking to aid you alot. After a few goes at it you will get better. (I sucked alot at first).

@thenephariouson  were all really disappointed, but what would you expect  from a game that got put together in less then a year microsoft speed the game out into stores really early because of them trying to compete with playstation because they know they werent going to beat them out at the launch because the obviously their old boss fucked up the system so much that nobody wanted to buy it. SO the only way they could get players to buy the console was by selling the most anticipated games that the players really wanted to buy. So to sum it all up Forza was thrown out into the stores before it was even close to being fully completed because of the console wars. So you really cant be blaming this on T10 because they had no choice but to go with what microsoft wanted them to do.

@TheExxorcist  Oh dear ignorant fanBOY, not only is this old news and not likely to happen, they are not going to magically take the XBone of the shelf, little fanBOY wishing is so cute.

@TacoTuesdays  I'm complaining because they deleted all my cars and progress. I have nothing but a stinking white toyota in my garage now. FU Forza.

@blackace The microtransactions are the ability to purchase ingame credits. Their prices were broken initially so that they cost several times more than intended, and combined with the removal of the best ways to earn money in previous games, and paid DLC from launchday that mostly consists of recycled content from the last game and required ingame money to unlock too, you must be able to see why people were less than happy. Credit to Turn10 though, they're trying to turn things around with these free tracks and the economy rebalances.

@WarGod667

After just one game you jump to that conclusion. And going by metacritic, Forza 5 was a 2 year dev cycle, rushed for next gen hardware, with less content..........and it scored about the same as GT6, a 3 year dev cycle, on established hardware, with more content.

Seems to me that Turn 10 is at least on par with the competition at their worst lol. Forza 6 will have them used to X1 hardware and have plenty time to add additional content we know and love from F4.

What game breaking bugs? I've never experienced a bug in Forza 5.

New CEO at MS can do whatever he wants...If he so chooses not to loose $2 Billion a year on Xbox... He just may dump it... that 2B a year could go to better things, like Windows OS and Windows Phone could sure use a boost.. get it?

WarGod667
WarGod667

@generalram2099 @WarGod667i forgot to specify a was referring to bugs and dlc debacle of FM4. I get fm5 is rushed etc, but it's still a sign that turn10 really don't care about us(quick money). Bugs from forza3 is still in fm4. 16ppl lobbies? no, more like 8ppl of those crash 50% of the time, gamebreaking collision bugs with DLC cars(problem from fm3)is stil very real. I could go on.

WarGod667
WarGod667

@origkillmachine @WarGod667I knew i was after i bought into the season pass. I have bought so many dlc's from them, but i downright refused when they cut brands from fm4. I hear it's even worse in fm5. Turn10 dont care,  you kid yourself they do.

WarGod667
WarGod667

@Sevenizz was talking about fm4, i was not clear enough about that. If you've played fm4 on a plan other than join and crash other drivers in first corner 'murica style, you know what im talking about.

@TheExxorcist  Boy your ignorance just gets deeper, you see the new CEO can't do whatever he wants he has shareholders and a board to answer too and I love how you left Sony out and how much trouble they are in, this proves you to be nothing more than an fanBOY with little to no knowledge, keep your head in the sand so people can walk all over you the rest of your life.lol

@TheExxorcist

Very hopeful and ignorant. Xbox has been profiting for years, certainly made more money then PS3. XB1 first quarter was profitable, likely due to 360 profit margins but still great. MS could buy Nintendo, not the other way around. And no matter how good PS4 is doing, it won't mean a thing if the parent corporation continues to bleed billions.
