Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes arriving this summer

Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros. bringing Caped Crusader back for second Lego outing on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, DS, 3DS; original sells 11 million.

This year will not only bring Batman fans the Christopher Nolan-directed The Dark Knight Rises, but also a new Lego Batman game from Traveller's Tales. Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, set for a summer 2012 launch.

Batman swoops down for a second Lego outing this summer.

A sequel to 2008's Lego Batman, the game is due for a range of consoles and portable devices including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, DS, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita. In Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, players will encounter a suite of famous fictional heroes, including Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern, and they must save Gotham City from the grip of Lex Luthor and the Joker.

In addition to the new characters, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will let gamers explore new regions of Gotham City in an array of vehicles, including the famous batmobile and batwing. The game also offers up new gadgets and suits, as well as new abilities like fight, super-breath, and heat vision.

In addition to announcing Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, WBIE updated the already-rosy sales statistics for the original Lego Batman. According to WBIE's numbers, that game has now sold over 11 million units worldwide. This figure is well ahead of the 7 million tally the company announced in August 2010.

Have you ever noticed that the lego version of a game is usually better than the original??

I saw the other day that lego has marvel's the Avengers toys in the works for the movie release, I can only hope there will be a lego marvel super heroes game.

Other franchise licenses sound great, but you people seem to forget,1st & foremost, they ain't going to make it unless LEGO can sell tie-in toys. That said, the Indy,Star Wars(1,2 & 3) and Batman are all good. Indy2 I found the levels a little short but still fun. Harry P? Pure borring.Purely for kids, so watch what you wish 4 with new licenses.

I love the Lego games for the most part. Sure, the games could use some fresh ideas. But they are just pure, simple fun to me (and for the record, I'm a grown man). I enjoyed Lego Batman, and the only thing that would be better than this sequel would be for Lego to do a Marvel Universe game...

i really hope the review meant "flight" instead of "fight"! I assume it's "flight" since it was in the same sentence with Heat Vision and Super Breath...

I love the Lego games, but Batman was my least favorite in the whole catalouge by far. I hope they vastly improve the level and map design for this installment. They do need to findsomething a bit more frsh to keep us going. Complex base designs are fun at first but tiresome by end of game. Lego POC was on a better track by having the levels right up front again. Lego Indy 2 and Batman were a mess in this category. Exploring was neat until you just wanted to get there already... Id love to see maybe a Lego master save file that keeps track of total studs captured, enemies killed, things built, etc over all games. A fresh subject/trilogy like LOTR or Dune would also do very well. Maybe some FP vehicle usage or online PvP deathmatches... Build your own still has not beed a great addition to a gme series that has its roots in that very concept.

It would be pretty awesome if they made a LEGO: DC Universe and allowed you to play both heroes from the Justice League and villains like Sinestro from different perspectives of the same story, like the first LEGO: Batman.

Meh, instead of making this, they should have just gone and made LEGO: Lord of the Rings or LEGO: Matrix instead. Would be much more awesome.

I like the LEGO games. Good clean, wholesome, innocent fun,and I like the quirky humor. It'd be nice if they could somehow refresh the whole experience,as they all follow the same basic formula, however,I'd play another one just like they've always been. Now my bro and I can settle it once and for all,Batman Vs. Superman,LEGO style!(I'm Batman.)

I still think a Lego LOST would work well if done correctly. Could feature more bolt collecting like Lego Harry Potter and less combat as in Lego Star Wars.

I hope you can play as the villains again. Strangely, I had more fun playing as villains in Lego Batman then as Batman or Robin.

I'm sorry, I'm excited for this. The Batman lego games are the only ones I like. This one looks cool and I like that they've incorporated other heroes.

I collect lego sets so this game will go great with the sets I'm buying.

The Lego games are great games for kids and adults alike, but they are milking the range far too much now. All of them are far too similar, and I've seen very little advancement in the gameplay between Lego Star Wars almost a decade ago and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean last year.

The original was awesome, I'll definitely pick this up when it comes out...... When I picked up Lego Batman I was kinda skeptical but I figured what the heck, it ended up being one of the best games I played in 2008.
