The main Prague office of 2K Czech, the Mafia developer that is suspected to be working on a Mafia 3 for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, has been closed as part of a company restructuring.

Eurogamer reports that staff in the Prague office have been moved to the developer's Brno office and that some layoffs are expected as part of the process. A handful of staff have been moved to 2K's headquarters in Novato, California.

"We have relocated and consolidated our 2K Czech team from our Prague facility to centralise resources in our location in Brno," a 2K representative said in a statement. "Additionally, we are transferring some development resources from Prague and Brno to 2K headquarters in Novato, CA."

"This transition will both strengthen the integration of the 2K Czech team with our award winning development teams, and better align cross-functional business practices. As part of this realignment, we are adjusting our staffing levels, resulting in the elimination of some positions."

2K Czech was said to originally be aiming to release Mafia 3 alongside the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the team realised this was "unlikely" a year ahead of the launch of the new consoles.

Mafia 2, meanwhile, was released back in summer 2010. GameSpot awarded it a score of 8.5 at the time.
