During a recent visit to Legacy Interactive's E3 booth, we were treated to a brief demonstration of Law & Order: Justice Is Served, the third title in the company's TV-inspired adventure series. Like previous Law & Order titles, the game will use the formula from the TV show. Basically, a slain body is discovered, a subsequent investigation is conducted (until an arrest is made), and, finally, a criminal trial ensues.

In Justice Is Served, the requisite victim is a female tennis star, and, as we saw during our demonstration, her body is discovered by a pair of her fellow professional sportswomen in a locker room during the prestigious US Open, held in Flushing Meadow, New York. The character models in the game will comprise some 40,000 polygons this time around. As a result, they looked significantly more realistic than those found in previous titles. Once the tennis stars were through screaming, the game got under way, and it was time to look around the room for clues. None of the items in the room were difficult to spot, so it wasn't long before our detective was in possession of items that included pills, a photograph, and a syringe. These were all items that could then be used as subjects of conversation when conducting interviews with possible suspects and witnesses.

Even during our short demonstration of the game, the interviews conducted yielded more information than we'd want to try to remember without the aid of a pen and paper. Fortunately, the game will feature a "smart log" system that will keep track of every single bit of useful information you hear as you conduct your investigation.

Law & Order: Justice Is Served is currently scheduled for release toward the end of this year. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
