Announced last month, Law & Order: Criminal Intent is a TV show-inspired adventure game in which you'll assume the role of detective Robert Goren. As Goren, who is described as an exceptionally bright homicide investigator, you'll be presented with three murder cases to solve as well as a bonus case that's unlocked when the others have been closed. You'll be accompanied by your partner, detective Alexandra Eames, as you investigate the crimes, and you'll also receive assistance from captain James Deakins whenever it appears that you've reached a dead end.

To solve the murders in Law & Order: Criminal Intent you'll need to investigate crime scenes and search for evidence using a context-sensitive cursor, and you'll conduct interviews with both witnesses and suspects. The game will feature around 35 speaking characters in total, and as you interact with them you'll use Goren's instincts for interrogation through different conversation options. There will be a number of different psychological approaches you can take during an interrogation, so you'll need to decide whether a suspect will respond better to threats and intimidation or to your letting him know you can identify him, for example.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is currently scheduled for release during the first quarter of 2005.
