Lara Croft Xbox 360 controller unveiled

New Tomb Raider-themed 360 wireless controller unveiled at CES 2013.

To celebrate the launch of Tomb Raider this year, Microsoft has collaborated with Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix to unveil a limited edition Lara Croft themed 360 controller. Featuring a design inspired by Lara's trials and tribulations in the series reboot, the wireless controller also contains a customizable D-pad, which is able to switch from a "plus" design to a "disc" pattern.

Fans who purchase the controller will also receive a download token for an Xbox 360 exclusive playable character--the Scavenger Archer. The controller will be available with the game's release on March 5 in the U.S. and will cost $59.99. In Australia, the controller will launch February 21 for a recommended retail price of A$69.95.

Tomb Raider is the first instalment in the series since 2010's downloadable multiplayer-focused Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, and the first standalone game since 2008's Tomb Raider: Underworld. Karl Stewart, Crystal Dynamics's global brand director, revealed last year that the game's campaign will last between 12 and 15 hours, dependent on gamers' play style.

Tomb Raider is due out March 5, 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

This is actually a great controller.

The controller doesn't look artistic by any means... And they claim it as a Tomb Raider controller while I don't see signs of Lara anywhere. Guess the only relevant thing that it has to the tombs is that it seems this has been long buried underground before it's been dug out, lol!

Oh my God!!!!! A Tomb Raider gamepad!!!!

I have been waiting for this day to come for YEARS! The game is not out yet but I would buy it and that controller without second thinking.

And I get a DLC too? FOR FREE? OMG OMG OMG!!

DLC is the best. Especially when you get it DAY 1 with the game at launch.

Everyone buy this!! We must support good products!

This looks terrible. The color just doesn't fit the game. It would look ok on a Bayonetta controller, but not in one inspired on Tomb Raider. Or maybe my eyes are fooling me and this controller is not actually pinkis, but red. Mehh... Even if it's red it doesn't look good.

Anyone reading in the UK. The extra character is only available from GAME as a purchase incentive.

@DrRockso87 Yeah, that's kind of how I was thinking. I think Double Fine has too much of its own thing going on to buy another company's IPs. However, I do hope they can buy some of the IPs they worked on.

I was hoping the analog sticks would be her boobs lol

This one looks rather ugly compared to say the Halo 4 Controller, or the Silver Controller, or the Fable 3 controller or in fact every other themed Controller I have seen ...

Do not really care about the controller, but that last part about the game only being 12-15 hours was the first time I had heard.

That does not seem like a very long campaign to me, I remember the old tomb raiders taking much longer.

How useless is it to have a ''themed controller'', especially when it is highly fugly like this one.

$70 for that? No, thanks!

Just another cheap trick to try and milk the Tomb Raider name. In fact I will not be surprise when this controller hits the bargain bin in a few weeks after release.

I want it, but not for the price of a game, thank you very much. Orrrr...maybe I will buy it. Instead of a "special character" they should have included a code to download Guardians of Light.

That controller looks like Re-hashed Resident Evil shit. In fact, just go buy the f*cking RE controller. This is garbage. Make a console for this woman, please. Do it for the fans and for women, dummies. This game is good for both males and females in a male dominated game market.

After all of this time. Poor Laura Croft just rates a single controller. Not a special edition Xbox 360 themed console. Still the died hard Tomb Raiders fans will like this

I need a new controller and this actually looks really cool. If the Halo 4 controller is no where to be found by the time I buy a new one, I'll be looking for this.

They missed a trick with the Lara controller... the perfect chance to place her chest in line with the analog sticks and they failed, surely it had to happen? :P

These guys are morons ... "let's take the game every one loves to hate on, and give them another reason... lets make exclusive themed hardware and sell it months before the game comes out" ... Geniuses.

It should come with extra worhtless buttons stuck on the side so it can be like the game with the worthless multiplayer stuck on it.

Not going to sell... I can do this myself throw and hammer saved myself $70.

So, they are launching the Controller for the Tomb Raider game or as an attachment to the Tomb Raider game; The Tomb Raider game would cost $59.99, while the controller would cost $69.95? Does this seem normal

those with better visual arts skills please come out and paste ur design for us to comment then we can side with ur argument!don't speak for the fans let the fans themselves speak!

My 360 controller naturally looks like this from years of hard gaming..

Another way to increase the already pricey controller. And you get a MP skin wow like any ones actually going to play it multiplayer.

I'm not the type to leer at females even if I thought no one was watching, so this controller has no appeal to me, in fact it's insulting to gamers.

This controller will make you THAT much better in TR multiplayer.

Despite the d-pad option, anybody could paint their controller that color, toss their controller on concrete and use old bandages with blood on it and make a replica for less money.

this controller portrays lara in a chubby, oddly figured kinda way :/ .  would prefer a ps3 rendition

Would have been nice if it was blood red not pink seeing as how she gets injure over and over again in all the trailers I've seen.

@pozium Accessories are tech , we've grown too used to accessories being cheaper than the game , but accessories are tech. If we complain about this Limited Edition or whatever controller , then what will we do when they'll announce Limited Edition Skins , or Controller Tablets for the Wii U? The thing already costs 150 $. Imagine a Limited Edition one being close to 200.

Coco_pierrot
Coco_pierrot

@Lotus-Edge Like every Xbox360 special edition ... It is just a 360 with a different skin. It is the same with that controler. There must be a reason why PS3 and Wii/WiiU don't do that ...

raahsnavj

@MGSKojima The makers of this controller would like to inform you that the patent they hold for this manufacturing process prevents anyone else from mangling their controller and selling it publicly. Please stop from giving away their manufacturing secrets.

@sam628 not everyone is going to buy next gen day it comes out, and I think it's more for hardcore fans than the average gamer.

tisuko

@sam628 Because it would be cheaper to purchase a controller for a working console.

Immortallix
Immortallix

@Darnasian @pozium Except the 360 controller has been available since 2005 and video games cost millions to develop.  Special edition or not, controller shouldn't be that much for just a skin.

Darnasian
Darnasian

@Immortallix @Darnasian @pozium Fair enough , I would've been in favour of this controller only if it added something like more buttons or a special feature , but since it's just a skin , hence your point being true.
