Landon Donovan joins Kaka, Vela on FIFA 11 cover
28-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy footie phenom to grace EA Sports' North American soccer simulator this fall alongside newcomers Kaka and Carlos Vela.
Despite a lackluster performance and no goal output in the United States' 2-0 loss to Brazil last night, the American soccer gods have good news to share with North American footie fanatics today.
EA Sports today announced that Donovan, a striker on Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy squad, will appear on the cover of the North American edition of FIFA 11. He will be joined by Real Madrid midfielder Kaka (previously announced as the game's global cover athlete) and Arsenal's Carlos Vela. Additionally, Donovan was the MLS's most valuable player in 2009 and helped the United States to win its group in the World Cup this past summer.
Donovan is no stranger to fronting EA Sports' annualized franchise. The goal-scorer graced the covers of FIFA Soccer 2003 and 2007. However, Kaka and Vela are new to the cover athlete phenomenon.
In development at EA Canada, FIFA 11 is set to arrive on September 28 in North America and on October 1 in Europe and Asia for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, DS, PC, and mobile platforms. A Wii edition is slated to follow in North America on October 4.
