Kunoichi E3 2003 Preshow Report
Sega will have a movie of its Shinobi spin-off on the show floor.
Sega recently gave us a chance to take a look at the movie it will be showing of Kunoichi at E3, and it also gave us some general background details on the game. The game will be a Shinobi spin-off and not a sequel, as was previously suspected. As such, it won't really have anything to do with the Shinobi storyline, but it will have similar gameplay mechanics, many of which have been improved. For example, you will be able to perform an unlimited number of tates in addition to Kunoichi's regular attacks. The development team also plans to make this game a little bit easier after receiving complaints about the difficulty of Shinobi.
But perhaps one of the biggest differences between Kunoichi and Shinobi will be the level design. Whereas Shinobi was very linear and simplistic in terms of level design, this game will have sprawling urban environments that will give you much more freedom to move around. In addition, the enemies will be more military-oriented as opposed to the demons in Shinobi. The game will run on a modified Shinobi engine.
The prerendered movie will show Kunoichi battling it out on the rooftops of a city in her sleek white costume. Kunoichi is scheduled for release this fall on the PlayStation 2.
