Konami partners with GameSpot for pre-E3 live stream

SITE NEWS: GameSpot will host third annual show through website and Xbox Live app; Metal Gear Solid V, Lords of Shadow 2 information to be revealed.

by

Metal Gear publisher Konami announced today that its third annual Pre-E3 Show 2013 will be live-streamed on GameSpot and through the GameSpot TV app on Xbox Live. The show kicks off at 10 a.m. PDT on June 6. A special landing page for the presentation is now live.

Gamers who tune into the show will be briefed on Konami news, game trailers, and exclusive interviews ahead of the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo the following week.

Notably, Konami will give an inside look into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain during the show and will also debut an all-new trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Behind the scenes footage for the next Pro Evolution Soccer title will also be on hand.

To bolster the reach of the event, CBS television stations in eight markets will air promotions for the show. This marks the first time a gaming company's online news event will be promoted in a nationwide TV ad campaign.

Promos for the Konami event will air on CBS stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, and Sacramento, as well as through CW stations in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Seattle beginning May 27.

GameSpot is owned by CBS Interactive, a division of CBS Corp.

Could it be that solid snake would also make an appearance in this installment and he would be voiced by Hayter?! Or am I just getting my hopes up?

Good maybe Gamespot can figure out what happened to David Hayter as the voice of Snake. I'm not looking forward to playing without Hayter.

After MGS 5 is done I would like Kojima to make a game about THE BOSS ( BIG BOSS Mentor from MGS 3). I always thought that she was a fascinating character and her exploits during War World 2 would have been awesome. Plus we could also see the Cobra Unit again :)

brainiac1988

Kojima said in an interview a long time ago: "We are not yet finished with Solid Snake". He said he would be in MGS 5.

http://www.gametrailers.com/side-mission/18361/metal-gear-solid-5-confirmed-will-feature-solid-snake

I bet you 100 bucks David Hayter will be in MGS 5 and he will voice rookie Solid Snake. This is all just a big troll from kojima. David probably wont do both Big Boss and Solid Snake cause that would be kind of weird.

Thats why Richard Doyle voiced Big Boss in MGS4.

BTW, David Hayter IS going to be in this game..... he is the surprise guest that will be revealed during E3

omg these David Hayter cheerleaders really get on my nerves, you`re even more annoying and pointless than the guys who where asking for trophies on mgs 4... seriously get a life!

They forgot this part... In which he will reveal that Hayter is in fact a voice in the game but not the main protagonist.

It's the only way I'll forgive ya Hideo. As long as there is an honest to goodness reason for replacing him (doesn't make sense with Japanese VO) then I'll be interested.

I'll buy it used or marked down otherwise.

That is insulting to Kojima-san, he would want a 100 out of 10!

@proceeder NOPE. Solid Snake won't have a part in this.

This COULD however lead to the events of Outer Heaven. And that means MG1 and MG2.

And that means Solid Snake, in full rambo glory.

One can only hope..

BigBossWato
BigBossWato

@proceeder he could but Snake would be only around 14 so I don't know how well that would work. Unless Snake already has the advanced aging then he very well could be but from what I know he doesn't get the advanced aging until after MGS2 as far as I know.

BigBossWato
BigBossWato

@Redsyrup Hayter normally does the voice of Solid Snake not Big Boss and as Big Boss get old or do to the Coma his voice changes(you really don't want Big Boss and Snake to sound the same that is to say if Snake make an appearance in the game and because Snake doesn't find out he is a clone until much later it would brake continuity) . But I do have a few theory's on whats going on 1) he will play Big Boss In Ground Zeros because when he spoke out about him not being asked to play Snake the said he was not asked to play him in Phantom Pain. 2) Hayter wrote about how disappointed he was not to be playing Snake on April 1st.

@lanasrj I know what you mean.I'm not even sure if I should bother watching the E3 coverage on gamespot.I remember the awful experience I had 2 years ago and a little last year when the stream had to stop and buffer every few minutes.

@firehawk998 Fuck no. should be a MG1 and MG2 remake after this, and DONE. NO MORE!.

Kojima should not let this get anymore out of hand. I love MGS, but enough is enough. ZOE3 is crying.

@firehawk998  Stealth killing Nazis? yes please! Plus, a WW2-based MGS plot would be a wonderful mindf*ck.

Cobra Unit - not so crazy about. Other than  The Sorrow, those guys were kinda ridiculous (not entirely in a good way).

@brainiac1988 How would it be weird if he voiced both?  Have you not played the games?  They're essentially clones.  And he already did Big Boss.

@Adavanter  It makes sense in a way, since Big Boss is now getting older, and they need to separate him from Solid Snake at some point.

Anyway, these guys are giving us MGS4 graphics and Peace Walker-like base management in one game; plenty to be grateful for, despite Hayter's departure.

@BigBossWato @proceeder I was hoping for this but I don't think it will if that advance ageing doesn't kick till after the of MGS2 but then maybe we could play as a 14 yo snake perhaps, that could be doable right?

@Sun-Tzu-GE @lanasrj 2 years ago we definitely had some internet connectivity issues, whish were resolved last year. We had a great stream, and millions of users enjoyed some very cool content. :D This year should be even better, with higher resolutions and more destinations (GS, Twitch, YouTube, etc)

@mr_azim  Then he would be talking to himself. In MGS 4 He already did an old Snake voice so thats why they let Richard Doyle do Big Boss.

My guess is, David will do Naked Snake in Ground Zeroes.. since that takes place directly after Peace Walker. Then in the Phantom Pain when he awakes from his coma after 9 years, he will have a different voice. Then somewhere during that game Solid Snake will appear with David's voice. Just guessing.

It simply makes no sense for Kojima to just let David go after 15 years, without even contacting him and giving him a proper thanks and goodbye.

I think (and hope!) this is all just part of a marketing trick.

PS: I have played every metal gear game ever made since the original Metal Gear on MSX. Except for MG rising.. only played the demo and didnt like it.

TohouAsura
TohouAsura

@unreal101 @Adavanter No it doesn't. Ground Zeroes is right after Peace Walker. Switching voices between Ground Zeroes and Phantom pain would be stupid too. Big Boss is far from that old, voices don't change at that age.

Seperation should happen in a remake of MG1.

brainiac1988
brainiac1988

@unreal101 @Adavanter  He's not that much older than in MGS 3. Should be David's voice IMO.  The only reason I can think of is that Solid Snake will make an appearance in this game and it would be kind of weird to let david do both. Like in MGS4.

Adavanter
Adavanter

@unreal101 @Adavanter While I agree the concept behind this MGS is the most amazing they've ever had.

It just doesn't sit right with me with no explanation. Especially having played PW with Hayter's voice.

You gotta understand I get bent out of shape over continuity. I hated that Katie Holmes didn’t come back for Dark Knight. That Terrance Howard got the boot on Ironman. I love Cheadle way more than Howard but it still bothers me.

Changing an iconic voice after a decade and some. Man just tell me way and it'll be fine. I'd even be ok if they told Hayter wanted to much money. At least I'd know.

@Sheik2  According to the story Solid and Liquid Snake were cloned in 1972 (the "Les enfants Terrible" project). I dont know whether or not Big Boss was in a coma... ( maybe Im forgetting part of the story, its kinda deep) ?

All I know MGS 3 took place in the 60's so they werent born back then. And I dont remember him being in a coma in Peace Walker.. So that coma must have happened before that.

Anyway at the start or Ground Zeroes, 1974, Solid and Liquid are already born (They must be somewhere between the age of 1 and 2). When Big Boss awakes from his 9 year coma in the Phantom Pain they must be at the age of 10 or 11.

And maybe with the accelerated aging going on solid Snake might be a young adult? Very well possible.

Little is told about Snake's youth. Only that he was raised by a variety of foster parent and that he was inducted into the Green Berets as a teen.

@brainiac1988 Something doesn't fit right in the timeline. Big Boss went into coma AFTER the events of Peace Walker in 1974, however, according to mgs3 the sons of big boss were born in 1972, and he has cloned WHILE he was in coma. Either the doctor was lying about those 9 years or this would be the second time big boss went into coma... or could it be also that peace walker as just a dream??? o_O

Adavanter
Adavanter

@brainiac1988 I can only hope. I don't see why people are shocked that some of us would be upset by this. It'd be as bad as changing out Drake's, Cortana's or any other iconic voice.

brainiac1988
brainiac1988

@unreal101  BTW I was wrong about him not being called Big Boss, and being given that name later on.

He got the name at the end of MGS3.

unreal101

@brainiac1988  That's an interesting link, I've never seen that before. I wonder if he'll actually feature Solid Snake in any significant way.

unreal101
unreal101

@brainiac1988 @unreal101  Yeah, you're right, the voice change wouldn't be 100% accurate if Hayter was not in Ground Zeroes. However, it's only the intro to the main game, so it should be forgivable.

Solid Snake does have accelerated aging, but he did not know about it until the events of the original Metal Gear Solid. That implies that he probably had a somewhat normal childhood.

brainiac1988
brainiac1988

@unreal101   Ground Zeroes takes place directly after Peace Walker..  Phantom Pain takes place 9 years later, after his coma.

Weren't Solid Snake's genes designed so that he had accelerated aging? Thats why he was so old in MGS4 right? In MGS 1, Gray Fox (as the cyborg ninja) also said to him: "You look terrible Snake... you haven't aged well".

Also..  Kojima has confirmed a long while ago, after MGS4: "We are not yet finished with Solid Snake". He said he would be in MGS5.
I dont think he will be fighting Big Boss  though, since Big Boss was kind of the end boss in the original Metal Gears where you placed as Solid.

I dont think he will even be called big boss in this game. He got that name later on.

Still hoping for a rookie Solid Snake appearance in MGS5.

unreal101
unreal101

@Adavanter @unreal101  Well, Gray Fox could make an appearance regardless. His story coincides with Big Boss' plenty of times.

Adavanter
Adavanter

@unreal101 Always been kind of hoping for that game. Good old Gray Fox making an appearance etc.

unreal101
unreal101

@brainiac1988 @unreal101 @Adavanter

MGS3 - 1964

Peace Walker - 1974

MGS5 - 1983 (ish)

Solid Snake would be 11 at this point, unless he has some freaky accelerated aging going, he likely won't appear in the game.

It would be pretty cool if MGS5 spanned a decade, and we did end up seeing (and fighting against!)  Solid Snake. Highly unlikely, though.

unreal101

@Adavanter @unreal101  Well, there is a major time difference (not to mention major injury and coma) preceeding the big part of MGS5. Sooo... it mostly works.

Hugoboss0889
Hugoboss0889

@Adavanter

dude...so you aint gonna buy MGSV the day it comes out, because Hayter isnt in it?

really? REALLY?!?!

-_-

Adavanter
Adavanter

@unreal101 No because again major difference in time. I'm fine with the idea of snake getting older and his voice being different. That and two Snakes were in the game. So having two voices made sense.

It just seems strange with the plotline that's happening in MGS:V that his voice would change.

Plus Hayter didn’t help by saying Kojima basically told him nothing.

That was my point about Howard. I can't stand the guy but I love continuity it means more to me. Again with Katie Holmes... I mean come on :P Of course Maggie was way better...

Hugoboss0889
Hugoboss0889

@Adavanter

maybe its because now they use motion capture when they do the voice overs and Hayter was not good at that.

in the interview with GS he jokes about that

unreal101

@Adavanter  Well... did you have an issue with old Big Boss having a different voice in MGS4?

Also, Howard sucked as war machine. Just horrible.
