Kojima teasing new Metal Gear Solid collection?

Series creator Hideo Kojima tweets image of what could be new comprehensive "Legacy Collection" compilation pack.

There may be a new Metal Gear Solid collection in the works. Series creator Hideo Kojima tweeted a picture today of artwork for an unannounced game with the caption "Checking."

The image includes various renderings of series protagonist Snake, from the original game through Peace Walker, suggesting a comprehensive compilation pack is on the way.

Lending credence to the possibility of a new Metal Gear Solid collection is a listing from the Korean Game Ratings Board (via NeoGAF) for a Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection.

A Konami representative was not immediately available to comment.

The latest Metal Gear Solid compilation pack was 2011's Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Please give us the uncensored version of MGS2. The MGS 2 HD American version I have on PS3 is censored. The PS2 version had blood splotches or wounds that would show up on enemies from shooting them, this HD version only has blood splatter on walls but not the body. Please release these games uncut Kojima!

MGS1 in HD... Is that supposed to make a difference? If they remade the game I'd drool all over the place but not really gonna play a game like MGS1 again on PS3. (It was awesome yes, but I think games for PS1 that you'd wanna play on PS3 would be like Crash Bandicoot because that's just plain fun)

Glad I waited and didn't get suckered in to buying the mgs HD pack. I knew there was a reason they didn't include mgs1.

Rumors or not, I will wait, cause there is still time for Phantom Pain and Ground zeroes to come, then we will see)

You can't tease a new collection of old(er) games. How about an old collection of new games?

it would be so awesome if they include really EVERY Metal Gear game.

Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes (because of the graphics being still good enough for a HD version) MGS2, MGS3, MGS:PW, and MGS4

MG1 and 2 are unlockable in MGS3 Subsistence so every game of the main storyline would be in there!

and it should come out for both the PS3 and the 360!

There are probably legal issues that are keeping Twin Snakes from being included on any collection.  To begin with it wasn't developed by Konami, just published.  It was also distributed by Nintendo which is why it was only on the GameCube, even though it would have sold like crazy on the far more popular PS2, especially with the pairing of the PS2 and MGS2 still relatively fresh on people's minds.

I'm betting that Konami will have to pony up some large sum of cash to obtain all rights to Twin Snakes and it's probably more than they might be able to recoup through sales.

Ohh Kojima, i am a fan of nothing... but please, just Remake Metal Gear Solid. - Game Cube version wasnt the same. - slap some up to date graphics.... Hanz Zimmer orchestrated - styled music {with Lisa Gerrard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SV3C-KjyBI (@ 1:00 - to David Hayter's voice yelling at Maryl "Get Down")} (kinda like the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6miaTf1gF4g), and some MGS4 Gameplay, on that son bitch, and i will no longer need to play any new video games again... poppa's gettin tired of fiction... but this... if created. would be my last. so work on it will ya. - MGS... best game of all time (In my opinion). - perfect i tell ya.

If this actually includes everything, from Twin Snakes to all the special editions, I'm in

@Arda_Daghan212 Itll probably be the twin snakes edition, which was basically mgs1 in mgs2 graphics, and overly exaggerated stunts

@LightningPurgeZ the only thing good about the HD pack is MGS3. MGS3 substance in HD is amazing. MGS2 has censored violence compared to the ps2 original, and peace Walker is just bad.

@El_Zaggy It's just a way of getting people hyped up for the new upcoming game. They did the same with Revengeance. And it gives a chance for people entirely new to the series to get into the game and it's story.

@steelmouth 50Gigs of memory on DVDs equals aproxi. seven discs. Now take a moment and imagine trying to play that...

@horizonwriter It's still Konami's product. They can addith in as they can also taketh away. Also, it probably wouldn't be to difficult to get the Twin Snakes into a collection even though Nintendo and Silicon Knights had their hands all over it. Also, also, that's undeniably the Twin Snakes Snake in the upper right corner of that photo. Just sayin. If it wasn't in some way going to incorporate the Twin Snakes then Kojima would've used that blocky head of Snake's from the classic MGS.

@MaxBlaze You mean you couldn't care less, and you probably only went through MGS4 once, so I can understand why you'd think that, but it's really not.

@psycho75

if you wanna do a exaggeration about it...would you do more superbly ?

like 150GB of memory with 15 discs !

there you go...take that !

horizonwriter

@Feedbackula @horizonwriter Yes, it's Konami's product, but at the time Silicon Knights was also owned by Nintendo, adding even more complications to the relationship.  No, we don't know all the legalities behind it and who owes what to who. The images of Solid Snake and Naked Snake in that shot are all redrawn, i.e. they weren't stripped directly out of the games that they represent, so no they wouldn't have some 32-bit jaggedy rendering of Snake in the group anyway.  Don't get me wrong.  I would love to see Twin Snakes in a collection and hopefully Konami has taken steps to include it on this hypothetical product but there has been an unspoken reason why Twin Snakes hasn't resurfaced on anything else since the unpopular GameCube, we just don't know it.

@jubdeidamasta @Enforcer246 well its better to switch the disc wich takes about 10-20seconds than to sit there watching Snake smoking for 10 minutes every new chapter ;)

@psycho75 360 uses dvd9s so that would be 5 or 6 discs but then again they could, and will, just compress a lot of the data.  especially the audio.

psycho75

@roman4545 It's very well know that Kojima filled the two layers of the Blue Ray with MGS4 so, yeah, that's a fact.

@CaveManCobb Actually they already released last year...sadly there are only two copies on the planet and i got one.

@MaxBlaze @NTM23 MGS4 was not crap. It was a really good game and probably the perfect way to end the series. Unfortunately, they didnt. They kept going with it anyway. I love MGS but I dont want to see it go the route of so many other franchises where they just keep making games for it just because they can

Feedbackula

@kabalzer0 @jubdeidamasta @Enforcer246 That was once a valid argument, but the very last MGS4 update made it possible to install the entire game, removing those pesky smoking installation screens for each act. But LOL at jubdeidamasta's comment.
