Knights of the Nine ride on 360, PC next month

Extra quests in PS3 version of Elder Scrolls IV will be made available on other platforms--for a price.

When Bethesda Softworks revealed last month that it was working on a PlayStation 3 edition of its hit PC and Xbox 360 role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it also detailed some of the new content that was being added to the mix. The PS3 edition of the game introduces a new faction in the Knights of the Nine, as well as new characters, locations, armor, and weapons.

Now some of that content is going to be showing up in the other versions of the game as well. Bethesda today announced that it will self-publish Knights of the Nine, an expansion pack for the Xbox 360 and PC editions of Oblivion.

Knights of the Nine will feature the new faction of the title, as well as new quests, the ability to found a new order of holy knights, suitably divine weapons and armor, and a plotline that includes backstory on the Ayleid ruins found throughout the original game.

Interestingly enough, Knights of the Nine will be a downloadable add-on for both platforms, but PC gamers will also have the option to purchase it at retail in a package that includes all the previously released Oblivion content packs, from horse armor to spell tomes. A PC expansion for the game was originally spotted on GameStop's Web site last month, although it carried the incorrect name "Knights of the White Stallion."

Bethesda has not released pricing information for the expansion pack, but GameStop had priced the "White Stallion" expansion at $19.99. Both the Xbox 360 and PC editions of Knights of the Nine are set to be released November 21.

Last night I bought my first $12.50 of Microsoft Points and spent them on the majority of Oblivion downloads. It would suck if I had to purchase all of these downloads again. I'm just wondering if 360 owners will have the option of downloading just the "Knights" add-on with out having to purchase the other content.

Gamespot doesn't seem to have mentioned it yet, but according to the official download site, it's not coming out until Dec. 4. Sucks to have to wait, but I suppose it's not too bad a delay.

Ok it is 7:20 November 21 2006 and no Knights of the Nine download over xblm what gives? Was it delayed or will it be out later today? Come on why isn't out i've been waiting since summer for this and i will cry if it isn't out after school.

Oblivion is awesome, only it gets boring once you get too powerful. I have completed all the major quests for my main character, now this update is what the game needs.

As soon as I hear extras are going into another version of my game - for free - I am miffed I have to pay for it for my version! Especially when those extras should have been part of the original game or a free patch!!! I mean, it's not as if Bethesda doesn't save $100,000's by having modders do the patching and 'upgrades/fixes' for them free of charge! How about a pay back? When you look at the mods available for this game, both in scope and quality, and with the modders quite happy to make these available for free, I don't know what Bethesda would have to release for me to be impressed and think it's worth whatever they're charging!

I think Oblivion is a great game, but is it really necessary to pack up previous available downloads and other stuff for what seeming purpose? Atleast Tribunal and Bloodmoon had extra land masses and the like (I have bloodmoon, I believe, but never managed to get a character level high enough to see the place). With all the freely available mods and stuff, I don't see the point, unless it Massively changes the course of the end situation and of course they fix the stuff that's broken.

Is it enough of an expansion to justify $20, thats what im wondering.

eh, im over oblivion... im leveled out and cant go any higher, thought the previously availible dl's were gonna be cool but it really didnt add anything to the game... with the screwy leveling system its a sure thing im not going to start a new character... and if some of these more extensive 'expansions' dont start adding acheivements (like graw ch2 and lumines adv and puzzle pack) im not interested... (the latter is just looking like an underhanded way of not letting you see the total price for the whole game)....and expecially if you lay out another 20 - 30 bucks for a game you already paid 60 for it should have some extra achievements...

Well, im eagerly anticipating this. Even if they dont include any new locations, once youve played oblivion for 150 hours you start to become desperate for some new faces. I hope they include a few bug fixes and such, and the new quests are quite welcome indeed. I only hope that they allow you to buy the package apart from the useless horse armor

This so-called "expansion" will only include the new faction, characters, quests, items, etc. - which I find fine, but I am almost sure we won't see other locations. There might be new dungeons and ruins, but it's not like we will get to roam in a new piece of land - such as in Elsweyr as many anticipated. That's too bad. A real RPG expansion should take you to a new land as well

I'm very relieved that they announced this expansion for the 360. It's about time that Oblivion gets a legitimate expansion pack instead of all of that overpriced Horse-armor/ single extra dungeon junk. I think bethesda has a made a wise choice to include it on the other consoles, because rowdy Oblivion fans like myself don't like to be left out of the loop...

Yeah, it kinda seems unfair that the PS3 version gets the extra content for free, but I guess they have to wait for it longer as well. If Knights of the Nine is the expansion pack, then why is it only available for download from Xbox Live Marketplace on the 360?? If this IS the expansion pack they were talking about for the 360, I'm kinda disappointed, but it'll probly only cost 800 Marketplace points anyways, so $10 isn't that bad for this kind of add-on. Who knows, it'll probly end up like Morrowind anyways, with three or more expansions in the end...

I haven't played this game for a while. It's huge! But an add-on is always welcomed (well...almost always). Unfortunately it isn't free. :(

There STILL seems to be some confusion about the PC content: "...will be a downloadable add-on for both platforms, but PC gamers will also have the option to purchase it at retail in a package that includes all the previously released Oblivion content packs..." It looks to me like the content will be available either via download or retail for PC gamers. So nobody is getting screwed if they've already purchased some of the other content, because they will not be forced into buying a retail copy just to get the new expansion. Therefore NO ONE has to purchase anything TWICE if they don't want to. Everything is sold either together in the bundle or as separate downloads, including the newest addon. Where did some of you people go to school because the reading comprehension or lack thereof is amazing.

I haven't played this game in awhile. Got drawn into some of the sports titles on the XBox360. I'm not sure why Bethesda didn't wait until now and just released a few expansion with all this extra stuff. People paid about $20 already for all the extra quests that was released for download. Now they'll have to pay another $10-$15 for an expansion. Everything that was previously released and all the new stuff listed above should have been in one expansion for $20. Thanksfully the only thing I downloaded for this game was the Horse Armor and that probably was a waste of money.

Dear Bethesda: Make less with the crappy add ons and more with the full fledged expansion packs.

seems pretty awsome to me, will they also be having a retail version of the 360 copies? i do not have online so i cannot download any new content, hopefully they do :)

I don't see why anyone would want to give this game up especially when Bethesda has been putting content out so it does not stagnate.

I really enjoyed this game on X360. I would recommend to anyone on a PS3. Well, people that enjoy deep games with endless hours of gameplay. I traded oblivion in a few months ago. I am interested to see whats up with the new content.

"The only winners in this Oblivion system wars are Bethesda filling their pockets full of money $$$ . This game is going to end up costing like $100+ with all these add ons and its not even online." :) Actually there's a program (just for the PC version right now), that allows multiplayer capibilites. However it's buggy (but it is possible to play). http://csusap.csu.edu.au/~mloxto01/download.htm is the site that you can go to for more info on it.
