The role-playing world of Oblivion recently expanded with the release of the Knights of the Nine add-on pack for the Xbox 360 and PC. While the Xbox 360 edition has been downloadable from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft points ($10), PC gamers have so far had to pick up a boxed copy at retail for $19.99 (although that package does include all previously released downloadable content for the game). Now PC fans have a second option. Knights of the Nine can be purchased for $9.99 from OblivionDownloads.com. For more on the expansion, check out GameSpot's review.
This article fails to make an very important point which is that the downloadable Knights of the Nine does not include all the previous downloadable content and therefore purchasing all of that actually exceeds the price of the retail boxed version at over 23 bucks for all of it. I checked.
hold on a sec... we can actually download the hold Knights of the Nine expansion pack for just 10 bucks instead of 20 bucks?! why? i aint complaining, but really curious...
I thought the 360 version had all the previous downloads. Now that it doesnt im not sure its worth it to me.
budlongmv "I wish the 360 Knights of the Nine had all previously released downloadable content for the game like the PC version." I'll second that.
Online too now eh? i'd say just buy it at a nearest store, since the DL time could take alot of time
OblivionDownloads.com is a mess. When the addon was finally available they sent me (and others) a key for the wrong addon, so it couldn't be activated and installed. When they finally sent me the right key I had to reboot in safe mode just to stop the "secure installer" from freezing. If you're thinking about buying the addon, do yourself a favor and either buy a retail box or get it from Direct2Drive.
Hmmm... all the previous content totals to $13.53 and the $9.99 download of Nights of the Nine does not seem to include it, just the new content appears to be sold for $9.99 as a download. Therefore the total cost for all that stuff via download comes to $23.52 which means buying it for $19.99 at retail isn't so bad all things considered. Personally though, I think the previous download content should have been either free or included with a real expansion of more considerable depth, not that Bethesda cares what I think obviously. It seems they have become Oblivious to what an expansion ought to be. Either that or more likely they simply know suckers like me will buy anything they release that adds to Oblivion.
Yeah this is definantly alot of bang for your buck, you really get a feeling of accomplishment from completing this one!
to PSdual_wielder: It's $20 in stores because it has all the other downloads so if you haven't downloaded all of that already it's a deal.
ElectrolightSH, I know what you mean. Oblivion has sucked a few dozen hours away from me and with this expansion pack I think it will suck another dozen or so. :D
"I'm not going to go into details about why Oblivion sucks because there are too many reasons but just know that OBLIVION SUCKS. I love The Elder Scrolls games and I love Morrowind and even Oblivion. I am a huge Elder Scrolls fan but Oblivion still sucks and I still like it." Oh dear, and to think I liked it too. Well, since your opinion is clearly the defining opinion of the world, I guess I have no choice but to agree with you. After all, your opinion is the only right one, correct? Thank you so much for opening my eyes to ignorance!
I'm not going to go into details about why Oblivion sucks because there are too many reasons but just know that OBLIVION SUCKS. I love The Elder Scrolls games and I love Morrowind and even Oblivion. I am a huge Elder Scrolls fan but Oblivion still sucks and I still like it.
That was a cheap shot and I feel sorry for the people who bought the $20 store one. It should have more items in it.
wouldn't it be a rip off since the stores sells 20bucks, and now you can download it for 10. Sad for the ones who bought it eh?
I wish the 360 Knights of the Nine had all previously released downloadable content for the game like the PC version.
