Knights Contract fulfilled on PS3, 360

Namco Bandai confirms 17th-century action adventure has gone gold in time for February 22 launch date.

While standard legal agreements may be written in ink, Namco Bandai has gone with gold for its latest contract. The publisher today announced it had completed development on the action adventure game Knights Contract for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Woo hoo, witchy woman.

Knights Contract sees players following the unlikely duo of the witch Gretchen and the immortal executioner Heinrich. Though Gretchen actually died at Heinrich's hands, she has been resurrected and now controls the scythe-wielding warrior. Together the pair struggles to save the world from a "black spell of death" and a supernatural army called the Harmonculous.

As Heinrich, gamers string together appendage-dismembering combos while the computer-controlled Gretchen uses her magic in a supporting role. Players will also be able to coordinate the pair's attacks by issuing mid-melee commands to Gretchen, as well as executing finishing moves. While Heinrich is invincible, players will need to protect the vulnerable Gretchen if they want to complete their quest.

Knights Contract will be released in North America on February 22. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

I think I'll just save myself $60 and play more Bayonetta.

@theshonen8899: I'm with you on that one. Much rather have more Tales games come stateside then a new IP that might possibly flop.

I don't want this Namco Bandai, I want Tales of Vesperia PS3 and Tales of Graces F.

Oh, and to any GameSpot staff who read this, mind doing an article on the Tales games, and this particular announcement if possible? The Tales games don't get nearly as much attention as they deserve.

I hope it's good. I need something to fix my NG itch. It's funny how I just came into this site to search for this game 'cause I saw it on GT's releases of Feb. video, and its pretty to know that it's not such under the radar. Please be good.

I'm almost certainly going to buy this. Not on launch day, though. I'll wait until it hits $20-$30. Though, I almost want to buy it just to thank Namco Bandai for giving us Tales games again (because Graces F was just confirmed for a stateside release, indirectly).

I loved Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, hopefully this turns out to be good to.

I hope this is as good as Enslaved was. They are both published by Namco Bandai and you have an NPC who needs to be protected in both, so its a lot the same.

I'm really interested in this game and have already preordered it. I just finished up Games Republic's other AI-buddy title Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom and was very surprised and impressed. With that said, I have noticed Games Republic's games to be a bit of a mixed bag from time to time. Majin, for instance, was fantastic. Genji, however, was pretty dull and poorly implemented. Folklore was liked by some, but others really lambasted it (I personally fall into the thumbs-down category on this one).

This looks as bad as Splatterhouse. It looks like a 4.0 at best......
