Klei's turn-based tactical espionage game becomes Invisible, Inc.

The upcoming turn-based spy game from the makers of Don't Starve and Mark of the Ninja has a new name.

by

Klei Entertainment, the developer behind Don't Starve, Mark of the Ninja, and Shank, announced that its upcoming spy-themed turn-based tactics game has changed its name from Incognita to Invisible, Inc.

"After some focus testing, Invisible, Inc. was better received than the old 'Incognita,'" Klei said on its official forums. "Our focus of the design does not change in that it will still be a game of turn based tactical espionage."

The announcement also came with a new trailer, which shows off some gameplay from an alpha build. Klei describes Invisible, Inc as a turn-based, procedurally generated espionage game that takes cues from the XCOM series, and that it will depend heavily on player positioning.

If you pre-order the game today through its official website, you'll get access to the alpha version, all future alpha and beta builds, as well as the final version of the game when it's released later this year. When you buy access you'll receive a key that must be redeemed through Steam.

You can buy early access for $17, or pay $20 and get the soundtrack for the game as well. At the moment, it's only available for Windows PC.

Looks promising! It's nice to see turn based games making a come back.. For a while all I had to go on were JRPG's.

Mark of the Ninja was great.  Also, Canadian interviewee, please tell us one more time what the game is "aboot"? (Just kidding!)

Need to see much more of it, looks like it could be fun.

Rogue likes and perma death are pointless things when people can simply load before the mistakes were made.

I would be nice if they made online only modes to prevent it, then you really could have a competitive scores.

Its like playing Diablo(FK D3) on hardcore online, you know if you die its GG for good, you can't just past that copied file you backed up.

Its just small things like that which make rogues and perma death game's so amazing, casual people don't understand and just say to pretend.

Is this the same studio that made the recent Shadowrun game? It looks similar to the Shadowrun game. (which was too simplistic for my taste)

Klei is becoming one of my favorite small studios.

I don't mind what the game is called, as long as it is fresh and interesting as Mark of the Ninja, I will be getting it.

Invisible Inc sounds awful, Incognita was better.

I'd love to see Don't Starve on Vita. Not tried any of their other games though.

There is just something about playing games like Don't Starve at a PC that just feels wrong.

I love spy fiction and games, I love Klei and their games; Don't Starve and Mark of the Ninja. So you'd think the two coming together would be a dream come true, but it's not.

This looks boring and unimaginative. It doesn't sound fun in the slightest being a class-based, stealth-based, AND grid based strategy game with a constant time limit. It would have been better to do Mark of the Ninja with spies (since it had very little to do with Ninja's outside of the story) and had this been a Ninja squad game.

I'm not a hater, like I said I love Klei but this isn't looking too good. I hope I'm wrong in the end and this will become my third favorite Indie game (behind Don't Starve and Mark of the Ninja).

@AdderDOh yeah! Great game. Needs more cards tho, and some of the decks you could make were overpowered, I think. I remember I could get turn after turn after turn somehow.

@Halloll Because playing board games on your computer is fun? So are card games. I paid $1500 dollars on a PC so I can play SOLITAIRE because it is so AWESOME!!!

Should be made for the SteamOS the hipsters will love it.

@Halloll It's kind of a silly thing to say with Thief coming out soon. Any team stealth game is going to require a turn based style. That's why MGS can manage to be Real Time (also coming in the near future). The only thing that doesn't come to mind is a regular Team Based Strategy game in Real Time but we have had more than enough of those too. Total War Series, Star Craft, etc.

@HallollBecause we have had probably a decade plus of "real time games only" and we've had a gut-full. There are still heaps of real time games released every week and you complain that we now have more variety with some turn based games being developed which gives us more choice and that's a bad thing?! Sorry but THAT sounds hipster to me.

@ziproy Well the Lead Designer of Mark Of The Ninja isn't with Klei anymore so I wouldn't expect this to be as good as what is my favourite stealth game ever.

@xsonicchaos Hey now, GS employees are too busy logging onto their own articles with multiple accounts to start wars so the comment numbers get into the 3 to 4 digest. They don't have time to keep things up to date LOL.

@Stag_Lee @megakick LOL

My PC is $2500, i play SNES and indie games. 9/10 of all the big games just end up being let-downs, like they don't give a shit anymore, just make a game shiny and the majority loves it.
