Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning gets new DLC March 20

The Legend of Dead Kel adds new questline, enemies, dungeons, and weapons to action RPG; hits Xbox 360, PS3, and PC next month; price TBA.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will welcome a new batch of add-on content next month for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Electronic Arts has announced.

The world of Amalur grows next month.

Due out March 20, the Legend of Dead Kel DLC is set on the island of Gallows End and has players meeting "shadowy" new characters and fighting fresh enemies along the way. Players will have a new questline to tackle, complete with new side quests and challenges.

In addition, the Legend of Dead Kel DLC brings a new dungeon type: Dverga Fastings, as well as three fresh Twists of Fate. Further, the content adds eight new armor sets and shields and 18 new weapons.

Lastly, the Legend of Dead Kel content adds the Gravehal Keep, a "massive estate" bustling with characters with unique backstories.

The content is due for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC via Steam and Origin on March 20. No price was announced for the DLC.

EA heralded the DLC as the game's "first" add-on, but the House of Valor questline is available for purchase via the game's $10 online pass.

what up with these "month after release" DLCs. This kind of DLC has to be made and finished in the original games time... then they wait a month and charge 10 or 20 bucks for content that could be in the game during release. So these kind of DLCs are just an extra income(read theft) for the company

just finished it yesterday. i'll be busy replaying mass effect 1 and 2 so no dlc for me right now.

"To put it to context, the content in DLC 1 and 2 took anywhere from 8-11 months to create. From concept to certified. " That's Curt on how long it takes to actually make, and put out DLC. That should really put it in perspective that this wasn't a quick thing they did to grab some cash.

KoA is one of those titles that will obtain a cult following! It may not become massively mainstream, but it sure as hell is not a flop!

@rasputin177 Want to know why? Nobody gives a Rats @ss about what you think. You’re complaining on the wrong thread. Why not try the KOAR website. Go there Might do you wonders. As you where told that DLC department is different from patches and quiet frankly your annoying now please go complain somewhere they might listen. You’re not going to get any answers here.

i dont wanna DLC i want you to make it CO-OP instead! that way it will be even more fun then just a short amount of fun that a dlc will give

Wow I just don't understand this would not fly in any other community. I have been a part of many, I think Amalur is a good game but for some reason instead of constructive criticism we have justification and excuses. I also can't believe people find it so hard to believe that a forum run by a bussiness would try to do whatever they can to sell their product. Either you are one of those people who cares more about "being a hero of amalur" or you have not been to the forums. I am not the only one who has noticed this. Yesterday, I saw a poster try to convince another poster that having gems disappear after stashing the item "makes sense and is a game mechanic".

Also for anyone wondering, the DLC in terms of landmass it will apparently add "15% more" to Reckoning! And by how big Reckoning is, that's pretty darn impressive.

@aermeus Ian (lead combat designer, creator of the camera) has already announced that when the patch arrives there will be an option to increase the FOV without any third-party means. :)

@rasputin177  What is the point of having 5 threads about the single, same: bug, broken feature, feature needed, patches and etc? There is none, it's the same for GS boards where a long thread on a single topic will suffice instead of 6 of them. There is no comptetion to get a response form Curt, he has his own free mind and posts when he sees a point he weants to respond to. He's just like you and I, no different. And the Hero of Amalur thing is a nice community feature to get to know the posters there... What's wrong with that? All I see form you is whining, conspiracies and a bunch of bull****.

I was eager to purchase KOA...but i was going to get it on PC and frankly I cant play it until the give the option to back the camera up and increase the FOV...also, everyone i know is saying it is to easy...need another difficulty...they say on the official forums they are aware of the issues but no idea when or if they will be able to fix things in a patch...im just going to hold out for a year when it is on steam sale with all DLC for cheap

sammoth

@rasputin177 Yes there is a conspiracy theory about how developers don’t read posts or hide them where you can't read them. The Moon s made of cheese too. “sigh”

rasputin177
rasputin177

Has anyone else noticed what is going on in their official forum?Threads that bring up negative aspects are almost always confined to one big long thread that most will never see unless they look for it. The same can not be said for positive threads. They have created an atmosphere where posters compete against each other to be the biggest shill for 38 studios. The prize being a response from Curt or featured as a "hero of amalur". Don't believe me? Go find out for yourself.

@packtop Please quit your crying about how much sleep you don't get. Quote: @sammoth When you don't know **** about someone don't go post comment like that. I sleep only around 3hours a day sometime 4 hours when i'm really tired. i work 8-9 hours a day except on the week-end other then that it's all free time... Thats not my Fault you don;t sleep maybe you should spend more time sleeping than playing Video Games. I work more hrs than you and I will tell you something you play too much if your losing sleep. Thats nobody's fault but, your OWN. My statement was true if you are calling a game small because you ran through it non stop. Even the developer said you get a good 30hrs. of content if you play every day. 80+ if you play on an average. So spare me the BS. Stop being so full of yourself.

The devs have trained us to believe that "if your in the know" you must rehash how long it takes to make a patch every time a fan asks for said patch. All I am saying is it would be nice to know what they are going to do to fix the game before trying to get us to fork over more money.

Kingdoms of Amalur isn't kiddy, if anything it can be pretty violent and dark. The bright visuals are a nice change from depressing ones.

I just can't get into this game. It looks too kiddie. I feel like I'm playing a zoomed in version of Warcraft III. DLC already on the way. They don't waste any time.

There's enough time after its release to see if gamers truly find this DLC good enough to play through. So far, I have enjoyed the game and have not found any real bugs to steer me away.

wish they would add another difficulty setting ..then the game would be interesting enough to finish the original content.. game is on powder puff mode.

This needs to increase level cap 1 skill and 1 ability per 5 levels would be fine. After max level and plat there is no reason to continue if I wanted to.

@fatee KoA:R for the PC is buggy??? I haven't run into a single bug my entire 40h playthrough. Plus with the FoV fix, FXAA tweak, and enb release, I've been in love with this game. Reminds me of my cherished playthroughs of Fable:LC. Just not quite as deep, but the combat more than makes up for it.

Ringx55

@rasputin177 DLC and Patches are two separate projects on their own timeline. You cannot say "patch the game first omgz1!!11!" when they've been working on the DLC well before the game was actually released. There is a long time between the game being gold, and it being released. In this time many companies focus on DLC and then wait for feedback on the game to introduce any "issues" that are brought up. Not only that, but the Q&A time for patches and it being certified takes VERY LONG. After every fix they have to test the game again to make sure it doesn't break anything else. Then they have to have it go through Sony, MS, Steam and EA( Origin) for it to get certified before being released. At least the game isn't nearly as broken as Skyrim.

@Omenth Yes I understand there is far less bugs for consoles, afterall the PC is just a console port - but that is no reason why my money should have less value and my game should be less playable.

FOV needs fixing on pc holy mother, but bugs for pc bah havent seen one yet or maybe i overlooked like i do alot of games i play if i sat and cryed about a few bugs i might aswell give up gaming.

Price is 800 MS Points and $10 on PSN/Steam/Origin!

rasputin177
rasputin177

Plus, new level increase is weak. Most DLC for this genre usually adds in new abilities or perks or at the very least raises the level cap. Its a very good game but some of the choices that have been made just confuse me.

Ometh

@fatee 0 bugs on the 360. Probably one of the smoothest games i've played on console in awhile.

rasputin177
rasputin177

@fryboy101 Maybe it does not break the game for every single player but for a large majority yes, yes it does. If you like to roll through a game without having to worry about loot or skills that option is already there for you. Those who want to be a god have that option. We are not asking they take that option away just let the other half of the fan base play the way they want to as well. Some enjoy having to combine skills, gear and everything else to fully master the game.

I won't be getting this. Hate all you want, KoA for the PC is buggy and simply not fun. Waste of money and time - and i've given it plenty of both. Perhaps I was seeking some sort of depth besides the usual dragon-lance-esque quality of writting. Don't get me wrong, I can see why you guys and gals enjoy it; It has bright and vibrant visuals and flashy combat, however, being an older gamer that sort of thing simply doesn't impress anymore, I've been gaming for 25-27 years now. I enjoy depth in gameplay such as starcraft two, and depth in story such as mass effect. KoA just skims the surface of both gameplay and story.

Smokescreened84
Smokescreened84

Ooooo, I'm interested. Really enjoying KoA, it's an impressive game, not perfect, but impressive. The developers did a great job with the game and it's easy to see that the game is very much a labour of love from the developers, more games should feel like they've actually been made with a lot of love and care instead of slapped together. I'm still to get started on the DLC quests that came with the game and it's been almost two weeks since I started playing. More DLC is very welcome and I hope the new quests, area and more will be great.

Fryboy101
Fryboy101

@rasputin177 you say that as if it breaks the game, which it DOESN'T. This game is perfectly playable and people like you are taking one little flaw out of proportion.

Borderlands raised their level cap to 66 with DLCs, so why can't they raise the level cap for Amalur?
