Kingdom Under Fire spared until 2008

Action role-playing game from Microsoft and Blueside will miss the 2007 holiday season in North America, but not by much.

by

Add Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom to the list of holiday 2007 games that have slipped into early 2008. Microsoft today confirmed that the Blueside-developed action-role-playing game will be released in North America on January 8, with European, Middle Eastern, and African releases scheduled for February 1. However, Japan, mainland Asia, and Australia and New Zealand will still receive the game in time for the holidays, with a planned December 13 release in those regions.

Microsoft Game Studios' Kingdom Under Fire series received two largely unheralded but critically well-received hybrid action and real-time strategy games on the original Xbox. For the franchise debut on the Xbox 360, Microsoft and developer Blueside decided on a new approach, with a spin-off game in the more conventional hybrid genre of action RPGs.

Instead of taking to the field of battle in command of an army, Circle of Doom players will explore randomly generated dungeons, learn new abilities, customize their weapons, and stave off thousands of enemies onscreen at a single time. Players will also be able to form parties of up to four adventurers over Xbox Live and quest together online.

It's fine, i can go ahead and spend more time on other games, like crysis, COD4, hellgate, orange box and ace combat 6.

not the worse news this year... at least I won't have to worry about scooping the game up and letting it sit around for weeks on end untouched. take yer time on this one developers...

And it was delayed in NA because it would be bad, and silly to release a more underground game, in the wake of this holiday lineup. It was the smart thing to do. If you flood the season with too many titles, everyone will have lower sales. This is why many 360 games were held over. Because they ALREADY have an army of games coming this year.

Honestly, I think I can say I'm not nearly as hyped up for this game as I originally was when it was announced. Having almost forgot that it was coming out this year, finding out that its actually NOT isn't that much of a shock to me. I'd definitely like to try it before buying it anyways.

The earlier Kingdom of Fire games on the xbox were not the easiest games one has ever played. Hours of frustration! If this is anything like them it will not be one for me. Even Gamespot review wondered why they made it so hard. Beats Me.

Fine By me. Too many good games on the 360 at the moment. I'm still working on Halo 3. I haven't even touched orange box, bioshock, or eternal sonata. Damn you microsoft! Too bad the Delaystation 3 can't say the same

Good move by MS. There are too many AAA titles coming out this fall, and sales of this title would surely suffer. I'm sure that if they could release in those other countries by mid december , they could release in the U.S. too if they wanted to.

I agree with Yuck_Too, at least I can focus on other good new release titles.

Fine by me, we could use a few more games delayed for early 08. This insanity of 40 games in the last 2 weeks of November is how games get lost in the shuffle.

This isn't that bad of news. Although I was looking forward to this game this will give them a little more time to get the kinks out.

Better choice, Q4 is too crowded, I'm yet to buy PGR4, TOB (The Orange Box), and Sega Rally.

Kind of figured it would slip into 08'. I want this game pretty bad, but I am actually kind of glad that it was pushed back a little, as there are far too many games releasing this year that I plan to pick up anyway. It is just something else to look forward to to start the new year off.

I hope this is like Dynasty Warriors. That would make these games actually enjoyable to me, as the first Kingdom Under Fire confused the hell out of me gameplay-wise.

Why can no company make hack and slash gameplay thats anything but a load of piss? This game should be good, if only the actual gameplay was interesting. So instead of a smart rts/action game they fall back on the ever popular and generally crap games like Dynasty Warriors

@ polsci1503: The music wasn't cheesy it was cool. It made the fighting seem a little more heavy. And the voice acting was great, who can argue with rupert and gerald screaming about killing orcs. The lip synch was bad I admit though. I want to see more of the combat though before I'm convinced but so far it's looking like I'll buy it.

wonder if it will still have the bad voice acting and the cheesy metal music.
