Today at E3 2009, the president of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, announced a list of role-playing games that were heading to Nintendo's consoles. One of them was Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, a game that we've seen previously at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show. The game will be playable as soon as the E3 show floor opens, but in the meantime, we had a look at a short new trailer.

The trailer showed images bouncing back between Roxas, Axel, Disney characters, and other members of the Organization XIII. A young girl with short black hair, named Xion--who looks awfully like Kairi--was sitting next to Roxas, and they had a brief but touching exchange. With Utada's familiar theme song playing in the background, the trailer jumped from scene to scene, giving you a glimpse of the action-based battle system. At one point, the screen displayed 12 unique screens, and then condensed to four, obviously emphasizing the multiplayer component of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

The most important piece of information was that the release date is set for September 29. Be sure to check back soon because we'll have hands-on impressions later today.
