Kinect Sports, Force Unleashed II, Forza 3 add-ons hit XBL

Xbox Live Update: Downloadable content now available for motion-control, Star Wars, and racing titles; Prototype, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ravage Games on Demand hub.

Microsoft's Games for the Holidays promotion debuts next week, but that doesn’t mean Xbox Live isn't getting updated with new content this week.

First out of the gate today is free add-on content for Kinect Sports, one of Kinect's 17 launch titles. The Party Pack content packs in six new minigames, 15 fresh party play events, and three zany mascots: Zippy Zombie, Champion Chicken, and Sportastico. Additionally, the Party Pack includes 10 achievements for 250 Gamerscore points to rack up.

Kinect Sports adds more minigames with today's DLC.

Also out today on Xbox Live is the Endor downloadable content (80 MS points, or $1) for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. The content thrusts players back into the boots of the Dark Apprentice, where they will follow Darth Vader's orders and bring the hurt to the Rebels on Endor.

Forza fans today can download the Forza 3 Community Choice Classics DLC (400 MS points, or $5). The content is unique in that Turn 10 partnered with automotive blog Jalopnik.com to poll fans of the game about what cars they wanted to see included in the DLC. The 10-car pack includes classic cars that range from the 1957 Ferrari 250 California to the 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II. The pack also includes a 1982 DeLorean DMC-12, better known as the 88mph time machine made famous in the 1985 classic Back to the Future.

A full list of vehicles that will be included in the Community Choice Classics Car Pack can be found here.

At the 2010 Video Game Awards on Saturday, Activision officially cracked open the lid on Prototype 2. But for those who missed the original or wish to play it again, the game is now available through Xbox Live's Games on Demand hub for $30.

Prototype casts players as a genetically altered shape-shifter tearing a path of destruction through New York City. Along the way, gamers try to discover who they are and what's behind their mutations, all while fighting off an assortment of military and mutant adversaries.

Also available through Games on Demand today is GameSpot's Game of the Year nominee, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ($40). A direct sequel to the 2008 console exclusive, Bad Company 2 picks back up with the derelict B Company, a fictitious unit of the expendable misfits and outcasts plucked from the US military's ranks. Destructible environments are front and center in Bad Company 2, thanks to DICE's proprietary Frostbite game engine.

Epic, that would be just one of many words to describe throwing an Ewok into a tree using the force lol.

that add on content sounds nice for kinect sports, kinda rare for MS to release free dlc that adds that much stuff and even comes with 10 achievements all for free lol kinda a coincidence DICE lets microsoft put BC2 on games on demand less than a week before vietnam dlc comes up huh :P cant wait for that!

Been playing Gt5 since it came out and put forza3 in today to compare and OMG F3 owns Gt5 in so many ways that it makes me laugh. The detail in the tracks, cars r so much better in F3 also my god v8s sound like v8s, v6s like v6s and 4 bangers like 4 bangers. F3 is the king hands down and the reviews prove it.

I hope the Star wars dlc lasts longer than 15 minutes this time. Still, for 80MS, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if it didn't.

Forza Motorsport series is kinda cool. I didn't see the appeal in it at first but ever since GT5 came out and I was comparing the pros and cons. I started to notice Forza 3 more.

@Indyskater I don't know where your getting this information but I don't think it's true, just a couple days ago Turn 10 posted an official announcement for Forza 4 and it said Kinect controls will be an option in the game, another article posted just to today has Microsoft confirming Kinect in Forza 4 including the ability to control cars using Kinect. "players will have the ability to experience driving the cars within the game using Kinect"

@silverdoe - nope, it's not a code unlock; the download is over a gig for Endor and the character pack is over 400 megs. Maybe it's just part of a new pricing strategy to see what types of adoption rates they get with more aggressive pricing?

@Indyskater It's disappointing but I can understand why. The Kinect is brand new and, really, everyone's shooting in the dark. They're not sure how to go about it and it's probably pretty difficult to figure out. We may still see it in future games. Like 4. We just need to give it time to mature, I suppose.

Just heard Turn 10 is ditching the kinect option to drive in Forza. Must not have worked out with Kinect. However they still are using kinect for exploring cars.

I enjoyed Prototype. Well... any open world sandbox style game that I can wreck havok is always good for me.

The original Prototype was pretty trashy, and $40 still seems awful expensive for BFBC2. The DLC you've mentioned here is a little silly... Though it reminded me to check out Dance Central's DLC.

@Darth_Nater307 They probably only made it $1 because FU2 is more like an expansion pack to FU1 than a sequel. It only takes 6 hours to beat the damn thing!!!

luffy11234
luffy11234

And they couldn't put these games into the game to make it more complete because? So it holds back a few days big deal they are advertising the crap out of it.

I don't care what people say about The Force Unleashed II, having DLC for $1 is awesome!!! People should start taking notes *cough*Activision*cough*.
