Kid Icarus: Uprising bundled with new 3DS stand

Producer Masahiro Sakurai tweets images of new system stand to be included with copies of Pit's long-awaited return; release information uncertain.

by

This March's Kid Icarus: Uprising will not only support the $20 Circle Pad Pro accessory, but it will also introduce an entirely new peripheral: a 3DS stand.

The new 3DS stand and, presumably, Sakurai's hand.

Kid Icarus: Uprising producer Masahiro Sakurai recently announced via Twitter that the game will come bundled with a new 3DS stand. Sakurai tweeted images of the peripheral (available here) indicating that the accessory will allow gamers to set the 3DS down while playing the title.

Unfortunately, it is unclear as to whether or not the 3DS stand will be available as a stand-alone accessory or if it will be released outside of Japan. As of press time, Nintendo had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

I have a hand grip accessory for my 3ds and it comes with a fold out stand. It works great and has a built in battery for extra play time, its made by CTA Digital.

sounds like cramp city to me. I think I'l pass on this one on that alone.. Yes, the graphcis look awesome but gameplay is where it's at for me... getting the feeling that most 3ds games will be action oriented instead of strategy based as many of the DSi was.. less thinking, and more action ugh, like there aren't enough twitch control games already..

Its starting to get annoying with all this "extra accesory" stuff not being released out of Japan...why!? Whats the point in it then if its not going to be sold to anybody else. I like the stand and I like the new circle pad pro but I'm unable to get a hold of them without an import for ages.

Kind of reminds you of TWEWY! Doesn't look bad. Might actually get it.

@sooperdude421 Having to buy an extra AAA battery powered accessory, from Gamestop no less, just to be able to play kinda falls into "Screw Lefties".

I've heard that they didn't have enough time to fully utilize the CPP after it was announced. Still looking forward to this game even if the controls are becoming a little worrying.

So the Virtual Boy comes full circle...

I think they did it because maybe many who tried it complained about how tiring it is to play KIU.Sounds good to me,since playing TWEWY also is tiring for my hands.

Sounds stupid, but it may be great for keeping it in the sweet spot if you're using the 3D. Probably not as silly as it sounds.

I can see why such controls would require a platform. Holding it in your hand like that would hurt it after a while without support.

Well if you watch that video you can see it will pretty awkward playing the game because you have to hold it with your left hand controlling the analog slider and the left shoulder button while using your right hand with the stylus to aim. This will get pretty tiresome Im thinking so I guess the stand alieviates that problem for those who dont want the second analog slider gizmo. Two analog sticks seem to be the way to go for this game.

Just release the game already. I could care less about the stand or $20 circle pad pro. I just want to play the game already. I wish they would have brought a Kid Icarus game to the Wii. That's what I really wanted.

Is the stand just an excuse to jack up the price from $35 - $40 for something outrageous like $50, for a DS game. I've been waiting for this game and now they are going to pull this crap; i'm a loyal Nintendo Fan but enough is enough. I just want the game, no extras. I don't need a stand, though the circile pad is kinda cool, but still. this better not jack up the price.

Oh Nintendo...what will they think of next?

The stand is just... a stand. You can use it for everything, not just for the 3DS

Who plays a portable system sitting at a table or desk? Seriously? I'm really thinking I'll skip on Kid Icarus with its whole "screw lefties" forced Stylus controls and now this nonsense.

Still don't give two f**ks about Icarus, but the stand idea just seems...... unneeded.

I rarely play 3ds whilst sitting at a desk anyway. In fact I rarely sit at a desk unless I'm on the internet.

The game supports the circle pad, but no mention if this stand supports having both accessories on at the same time. It probably does, it would be dumb of Nintendo not to make them compatible.
