Ken Levine gives update on BioShock Infinite DLC

Irrational Games boss says studio has been working on expansion since game shipped in March; "game development takes time."

Irrational Games creative director Ken Levine has provided an update on the status of BioShock Infinite's downloadable content.

"DLC Update: We are working on it--have been since the game shipped," Levine wrote on Twitter today. "Things are going well, but plz understand: game development takes time."

Asked if he could give any hints or release any screenshots, Levine said, "We can't until we can. Sorry."

The first DLC for BioShock Infinite is rumored to add a new AI companion character to the game.

BioShock Infinite's $20 DLC season pass includes three expansions for the first-person shooter, said to provide "hours" of additional gameplay and include new stories, characters, abilities, and weapons.

ya think they would have been on top of the DLC and at least had one ready to go for the summer...its mid July and no info on DLC until late July and that does not mean we get the DLC anytime soon.....

That's not an update... "How's the DLC coming Ken?" "We are working on it."

One of the most boring game stories ever!

Beautiful game, but story is boring....  it's not bad, but its not the best...

Over-rated as usual

These guys actually started development of the DLC after the game shipped, we should be praising them! Not whining about how long it is taking to create.

It has to be post-campaign story missions... I really hope they don't screw with the base game.

I preordered the season pass (first time I've ever done that with any game) and am eagerly awaiting the first DLC.

Not really an update. I hope I didn't waste $20. Also this hopefully will be released before the new consoles come out.

With this developer my logic tells me that the longer I wait, the better the DLC will be.
Very excited!

This actually seems like real DLC. You know where they take their time and haven't ripped it out of the main game. Crazy thought.

BioShock Infinite and Metro Last Light didnt need a season pass but since they are both solid SP games in their own rights I am kinda glad there will be more content to them.

@Hayabusahalo Hey it's not like he's updating us everyday on how the DLC isn't ready yet people are asking him on twitter. What is Ken Levine suppose to do, make stuff up to keep people happy?

@dragonkantus until information is released publicly by the marketing department it is considered internal and any giving out of this information would be reprimanded...i.e. I can't give out any information until the lead allows it

Don't play it if you don't like it child, and why are you even reading this article if you don't like Infinite. Me personally thought it was an absoloutley breathtaking experience and look forward to some DLC. 10/10

@Martyr77 Exactly what I came here to say. 10 points for actually FINISHING the game before starting work on DLC, as opposed to 99% of other devs who spend the last 6 months of "dev time" on DLC to sell along with the launch.

@BrahManDude

I kept thinking it should have been next gen when I was playing it, too.  Columbia itself was the worst thing about the game.

@ck10304 @Tripwolf  There´s many "holes" in the main story of the game that I would love to know...such as the dead man at the lighthouse or maybe a visit to Rapture.. I´ve bought the season pass and desperately waiting for a DLC...

sadscooterpipe

@TheBlueDrew Nope, and don't know many who did.  The Borderlands games were great.  Epic had a lot of success with the Gears series, like 'em or take 'em, and they clunked out Bulletstorm.  I'll stick to the games that I know that these guys are really interested in making because they do a good job when they care about the project...imo.

Take care.

TheBlueDrew
TheBlueDrew

@deathstream @BrahManDude I didn't hate Columbia but I wanted to see more of it, in Bioshock 1 at least we got to see a lot more of Rapture and how it must have been in it's beginnings. For such a big city we saw so little of it.

BrahManDude
BrahManDude

@deathstream @BrahManDude yeah i wanted to play the game that they first showed off years ago this game was screaming next-gen but oh well it was a good story though

TheBlueDrew
TheBlueDrew

@sadscooterpipe @TheBlueDrew I'm not going to argue with you because it's an accusation so it could turn out that Sega are lying but basically Sega are claiming that Gearbox postponed Colonial Marines multiply times and used the money they got from the project to fund Borderlands and Duke Nukem,

Rather they cancel the title they just kept asking for more money basically funding two games for 2K with the cash. Presumably Gearbox were still getting the usually amount of money from 2K to make these games to avoid suspicion.

sadscooterpipe
sadscooterpipe

@TheBlueDrew Don't know anything about that so I can't comment or defend.  Pitchford and team did a really nice job with Borderlands and supporting and promoting it which was good enough for me.

Don't feel like arguing about anything off topic from that, so you win the internet today.
