Keiji Inafune announces The Island of Dr. Momo

First game post-Capcom to be on iOS and Android.

Gamers should need no introduction to former Capcom producer Keiji Inafune, who in his previous role produced games such as Mega Man, Onimusha, and Dead Rising. Inafune stayed with Capcom for 23 years; he left the company last October. Now, the producer has announced a new game under his new company, Comcept, called The Island of Dr. Momo.

Inafune's first Comcept game allows you to play mad doctor on cute animals.

According to a report on 4Gamer.net, the title is a social game made for the Japanese mobile social gaming service GREE. The game was announced at a press conference held by GREE, Comcept, and Index, the parent company of Atlus. Players are put in the role of mad scientist Dr. Momo who has to combine a number of cute animals to create the world's cutest creature.

The game will be available for both iOS and Android platforms and will be out in Japan this fall. The title will be free to play, with in-game items available for purchasing. An English version of the game has yet to be confirmed.

Ok looks like Inafune lost his mind or just wants to make lots of money without much effort.

So he has a social studio and a hardcore studio. I hope he sees success in both!

@Phil-teh-Pirate lol But seriously, he left Capcom to make social games?? I hope that's not all he's been up to, or I may never get to play a game by this genius again.

lol! What a strange premise. I really do hope Inafune is working on a game that targets a more hardcore audience, maybe... a platformer of sorts ( an action-platformer like Megaman never passed my mind! ) ? =D

Hopefully Keiji Inafune's new game will be a huge success for his new company. "The world's cutest creature?"

Don't forget Inafune created a social gaming studio and a traditional hardcore studio. This is obviously the work of the social studio.

Game devs jumped from PC ship to Console ship. OK, still hardcore. Now they're jumping from Console ship to Casual ship. It's not gonna be long before real games will cost $300 because they'll be so damn rare!
