Karaoke Revolution taking Wii, 360, PS3 stages

Konami's latest sing-along rhythm game will include 50 master tracks, expanded multiplayer; due this holiday.

Thanks to the likes of MTV Games' Rock Band and Activision's Guitar Hero franchises, the rhythm-game genre is one of the most cutthroat around. Konami is no stranger to rhythm games, either, and the publisher announced its latest offering today: Karaoke Revolution for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. Karaoke Revolution is expected to arrive for all three platforms during the holiday 2009 season.

This is by no means the first installment in its Karaoke Revolution franchise, but Konami has a number of new features planned to freshen up the most recent installment in its long-running karaoke franchise. Of note, the publisher said that the game packs 50 all-new songs taken from master recordings, which can be sung in 16 different "customizable" venues. Konami also said that the game's character creator has been updated with new ways to manipulate facial and body proportions.

Multiplayer singing will also play a prominent role in Karaoke Revolution, with the publisher saying that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions will include a co-op party mode that accommodates play for up to 16, as well as support song, venue, and accessory downloadable content. The Microsoft and Sony console editions also support the Xbox Live Vision Camera and the PlayStation Eye for importing players' own images into the game.

Karaoke Revolution is expected to arrive for all three platforms during the holiday 2009 season.

It should, that's where Rock Band got it from. Harmonix used to work on the Karaoke Revolution games.

Games having the word "Revolution" at the end of the title scares me.

I now see, by these games getting very small in numbers of copies sold time and time again, that the whole "bemani" genre, after a decade point two, is losing steam, fast. I suggest Konami make it worth a purchase price during these bad economic times, or look like horses' butts again, like how they did with Metal Gear Solid 4's release. They're nowhere near the Konami they used to be.

iyee - Konami created Karaoke games way before Sony and Microsoft and it did have a lot of success. I believe Sony created Singstar because Konami had Karaoke revolution. Konami also created these games with Harmonix which then gave Harmonix the idea to make guitar hero and later on Rock Band.
