Journey, Until Dawn Confirmed for PS4 as Sony Outlines Gamescom 2014 Lineup

Sony's Gamescom lineup shows that Journey and Unfinished Swan will, indeed, be coming to the PlayStation 4.

Update: And almost immediately after being uncovered, the list has been pulled from the website. We are following up with Sony and will update this article with any more information we receive.

Original Story: It looks like thatgamecompany's Journey may, indeed, be coming to the PlayStation 4. Today, Sony's Gamescom lineup was uncovered on a German PlayStation website, revealing a number of previously unannounced PS4 ports and the emergence of several other games. The website is the European hub for Gamescom 2014, according to the German PlayStation Blog.

On the site, Journey, The Unfinished Swan, and many other games are stated as being playable at the conference in Germany this August. Notable is the inclusion of Until Dawn, the game inspired by teen-horror films that was revealed at Gamescom 2012. Also notable is the appearance of Surgeon Simulator on the PS4.

Recently, rumors arose that The Unfinished Swan would be coming to PS4 and Vita, and this new report gives further evidence for the ports. Sony also recently filed a new trademark for Until Dawn.

The absolute stupidest people are people who think a game being upscaled to PS4 is something to be disturbed or upset about.

1) If you played it and enjoyed it, NO one is forcing you to buy it again.
2) Not everyone who owns a PS4 owned a PS3, so they have every right to buy these games.
3) Sony didn't rip you off when they released it in a pre-PS4 world, and you are not entitled to a free upgrade just because you think you are.

GTA 5 release date is going to be announced alongside pre order bonuses and perhaps a new trailer/gameplay?

People are being dumb.  You do realize that this is just a confirmed list of games people know about.  Of course Sony is going to show us new titles that we do not know.  Dud you really expect the company to put games no one knows about on the list and spoil everything?  Most games are multiplat these days, give the whole exclusive crap a break.  It is not like any other company has a huge amount of exclusives coming out.  Media Molecule has already teased its new game, and Until Dawn is now on PS4.  That is two new games coming EXCLUSIVELY to PS4.  I doubt that Little Big Planet 3 will be the same title on PS4 as it is on PS3.  It will probably be like Battlefield 4 on Watchdogs.  The last gen version will get the worse version of the title.

People seem to forget that Guerrilla has a second game on the way, Lavel 5 is doing a PS4 game.  Santa Monica is making a game, the producer of Shadow of the Dammed is making a PS4 game.  The Unfinished Swan developer is working on two sony exclusive games.  Naughty Dog is making another title that is not Uncharted 4 or The Last of US remastered.  Studio Bend is most likely making a PS4 game.  You have got that military game from the ex Socom developer called Hour.

What does Microsoft really have?  It has Sunset Overdrive, The Halo Collection, and Forza Horizon 2 coming out this fall.  This does not include the indie titles on the platform.  If one believes that exclusives are the only games that count on a next generation platform, this also must mean that Microsoft only has one title coming out this fall.

If you are going to complain about one company, then you might as well complain about the other.

I am not going to bring Nintendo into the conversation the Wii U has been out a year longer than the other system and therefore would have more exclusive titles available.

atleast ThatGameCompany rereleases are cross-buy  unlike The Last Of Us.

Yet some more rereleases from Sony rather than a good handful of original exclusives for the rest of the year. Yippee.....

This list makes me glad that I sold my vita and opened the wallet for a laptop. So much potential wasted.

Finally I get to see what WWE 2K15 looks like. On a side note all those Vita games sound dumb as all hell that is why the Vita is failing a bunch of dumb indies and japanese reject games is all it gets.

Moreless can't wait till September 9th, ill be getting my white ps4 and a bunch of new games since I ain't play them on my ps3 yet. Games like TLOU and journey.....nope haven't played them yet. Too busy playing Japanese imports like j stars victory vs, amongst others. Plus I play all the fighters so bring on some Tekken 7 or xstreet fighter. But def can't wait for most of these or strike suit zero since gaming on a PC is too nerdy for me.

The vita games are disappointing. I think journey could have been ported to the vita. The only good vita game by the looks of it is hatsune miku

@Shango4 Wrong. The dumbest are people like you who think that it's great. Why waste resources and time with this crap? Because they can rip you off with their streaming service. What a bunch of garbage.

np3trop

@Shango4 Gamers love complaining. If there's nothing to complain about, they'll create something to complain about. Sure, some things are worthy of it, but this is ridiculous. No wonder game companies make a lot of money - they're able to exploit emotional weaknesses in gamers with ease - so why wouldn't you go for their wallets?

pspearman
pspearman

@Shango4  I think that depends entirely on the situation. If Naughty Dog, for example, announced that they were going to stop working on any new games while they port all the old games across, would you be happy with this?

@gamenerd15 I've got both systems. Bought 3 games on the Xbox One and 12 games (not counting Plus and downloadable games) on the PS4. I'll be buying at least another five games on the PS4 before the years end and one on the Xbox. Says it all for me.

xantufrog
xantufrog

@gamenerd15 people just like to hate. You raise great points about why the ps4 has a bright future. People should spend less time looking to tear down someone else's console of choice and just play games. Same goes for Sony fans on x1 articles.

@Halloll Who said that Journey would be cross-buy? No one. TLOU Remastered is a significantly different enough game (1080p, 60 FPS, multiplayer, all DLC) that making it cross-buy would be foolish

@thetravman You mean like Driveclub and LBP3.  I love how 1 game and a couple of digital titles all of a sudden means that's all they put out.  Grow up.

Coming from a member of the Halo remaster race? I haven't played any of the games that are being remastered or re-released on ps4, I'm loving this.

@Horndawgie @3dmatrixgamer Those so-called "others" wouldn't be the most brilliant of people then. No one has an amazing line-up during the first year of a console's release. Getting pissed off about being an early adopter when there are years of gaming and console history to show you what you have to look forward to this early on is immature and short sighted. I knew there would be a bit of a gaming drought at first, which is why my PS3 hasn't gone anywhere, but I'm finding myself gaming on it less and less. The games will be there. Hell, the PS3 didn't really get going until Metal Gear Solid 4 came out a year and a half after the console's release.

xantufrog
xantufrog

@pspearman @Shango4 I agree with your scenario. But nobody is doing that, yes? The companies releasing re-releases (including ND) are also working on new games.

pspearman

@mjonk2pc  I suppose someone needs to be excited. I picked up a PS4 a few weeks ago but I have no idea what games ill be getting for it. Nothing appeals. Impulse buy gone wrong so far...

@Darkhol0w Infamous, Driveclub, and Little Big Planet are the only noteworthy exclusives this year. That's...sad.

KiriharaZro

@xantufrog

The so called "new" are just generic games (like the order), and others like Uncharted 4 or LBP 3 are not "new" just expansions of the same universe in those games, thats why many gamers (me included) are complaining on this remastered rampage, and thats why many of us aren't buying a PS4 because the lack of real games. Shango 4 says the ones that don't own a PS3 have the right to buy those games but I say: what about us that have been loyal to sony since the beginning? we don't have the right to have real new games? even more that those gamers that change from microsoft to sony in this generation, the same gamers that in the past mocked the PS3 and sony and praised the 360.

Thats why many gamers are feeling this way, its like sony wants to please the former microsoft gamers, and us, the loyals, are putting aside

Synesthasa
Synesthasa

@KiriharaZro @xantufrog There are two sides to this, and too many people are missing that this is the strongest new generation software launch in history. There has never been a console launch with the number of good games to play like there was last year. But as things get more and more awesome, gamers are getting less and less patient. While you and others are perfectly entitled to your opinions of Uncharted 4 being nothing new and a rehash, and The Order being generic, there are those of us (myself included) that are excited about these fantastic-looking games, while also looking forward to the multitude of great new IPs just around the corner. So many people are complaining about lack of new games, but October alone is poised to make us all broke with new games.

Perhaps I'm easily pleased (is that in itself a bad thing?) but I see a lot of amazing games coming out alongside the remasters. I don't know what folks are so upset about.

KiriharaZro
KiriharaZro

@Synesthasa

Just a few questions: you have a PS3 or own it one in the past? you are multiconsole gamer? or like me, are you a sony loyal since the beginning? because my complains,as you noticed, are from a sony loyal gamer that now see how the company supported for many years turns the back to us (the loyals of course) not only in the PS4 remastered games to please those who never owned a PS3 but in the lack of support to the vita. Sony now says "you don't need AAA games on that device, better use it as a peripheral on the PS4" that kind of things are the ones that piss off many gamers.

Maybe for you the remastered games are great, but for us are just proofs that the loyal fanbase isn't important anymore to sony, while as I say, the company wants to please all those that abandon the 360. To me isn't fair, and that's why I won't buy a PS4 until sony make changes on that "new" policies.

Synesthasa
Synesthasa

@KiriharaZro @Synesthasa I can't speak about the Vita because I don't own one and don't know anything about that. If it is true that they are neglecting the Vita for AAA games, then that is not right and they need to address it.

As for the remastered games, this is not an issue. Sony is not going to remaster everything from their past catalogue and offer us very little new titles. that would be extremely foolish. There are already a handful of games in the pipeline, and more yet to be announced. It takes time. We have more launch games this generation than any other, but people are looking at a few remastered games as a sign that Sony is abandoning their fans. It's not true at all. These remasters are only a few, and it is good business, as it does indeed introduce those new to Playstation to a few awesome exclusives.

If we can just be patient with this, there are plenty of good things on the way, but games take time to develop.
