Joe Danger lands safely on PSN

PlayStation Store Update: Hello Games' IGF finalist joined by Death Track, Sam & Max: Penal Zone, Voodoo Dice; PSP gets MGS: Peace Walker.

Hello Games may not have walked away with the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the 2010 Independent Games Festival in March, but it impressed enough people to be named as a finalist. Today, gamers will be able to check out the game for themselves, as Joe Danger leads a busy week of updates to the PlayStation Network.

The first project from Hello Games, Joe Danger is a stunt motorcycle racer where gamers take control of the titular daredevil to perform madcap stunts across a variety of environments. Joe Danger includes a multiplayer racing component, and gamers can also build their own tracks in a sandbox mode. It is available for $15.

3nd is a rough spot to be in.

Racing fans who prefer shooting fire to jumping over it may be interested in Death Track: Resurrection. Also a $15 offering, Death Track offers futuristic vehicular combat in 10 postapocalyptic settings, ranging from New York to Bangkok. With 10 different vehicles to choose from, Death Track includes local split-screen multiplayer, as well as online bouts for up to eight.

Two other new games arrive on the PS3's online store this week. From adventure game aficionados Telltale Games comes Sam & Max: The Penal Zone. The episode is the first in a five-part series featuring the crime-fighting pooch and his hyperkinetic bunny-thing companion and is available for $9. Ubisoft's Voodoo Dice will cost $10 and involves clearing a level of dice by matching sides with a die controlled by the player, as well as finding creative ways to dispatch enemies. A demo for the game is also available.

As for PSOne Classics, Sony has Bloody Roar 2 on tap for $6. The anthropomorphic 3D fighter did not achieve the same level of critical approbation as its predecessor upon release in 1999, primarily due to its striking resemblance to it.

On the PlayStation Store for the PSP, Konami will be matching the retail launch of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker with a digital release for $40. The latest installment in Hideo Kojima's magnum opus is joined by Metal Slug XX and Disgaea Infinite, each of which run for $20.

A full list of the week's deals and new PlayStation Store content, including themes, wallpapers, demos, discounts, and add-on content, is available on the PlayStation Blog.

@monson21502 Weird then, but good for you I guess. Pawn shops around me charge outrageous orices. They want like 15-20 for Gameboy and N64 games, then like 40-65 for other games.

great game. i picked it up lunchtime today from the uk psn. real kick in the teeth for others coming home from work later though. they wont be able to get it because of this silly downtime. could have at least ran the downtime from 9pm or 10pm in the night through to 9am in the morning instead of starting at 4pm and ending it at 4am.

Reminds me a little of Trials HD actual. Trials is a bit more realistic and doesn't have that cartoony look. Game looks fun though. I may have to get it, especially since you can create your own tracks and share them. PSN finally getting some of their own decent games.

Joe Danger Demo or no sale. I need to actually try it for myself before I buy it. 15$ is asking a bit much...

@Toysoldier34, i get my games used for 12 bucks at local pawn shops. i go there every few days and always find semi new release games and they are all the same price** buy 3 games for 12 bucks each or 15 each**. i have a huge game collection for both 360 and ps3 and i only paid full price for maybe 3 of them. thats why i dont like to spend over 10 on psn games.

Joe danger is not an exite bike rip off! It's looks nicer than exite bike, has better controls, an awesome level creator, online play, insane levels, and is way cooler!

haaa! not the excitebike clone. Haaa! another "if I can't have the original, I'll make a clone of it" game. I guess this is how the "big boys" as they call the HD consoles do it.

@ meantoaster : not sure if you're joking but why didn't you change your own name into Max Payne? I don't think my future kids would like it if i called one of them 'The Chosen One'. Would you like it if they named you Donkey Kong,

Joe Danger is a ton of fun! I've been playing it all night and I'm still not tired of it. Pretty amazing considering it was made by just four guys.

I want to get Joe Danger real bad but Im relluctant because of value. $15 would be fine if it had online multiplayer but it doesn't. It looks awesome but I think I'm gonna wait for the price cut. If I was one of the 4 dudes behind it I would want as many people as possible to get their hands on it and you accomplish that at $10. $15 for your first offering with no online multi is kinda greedy even if the game did recieve 9.5/10 at IGN.

Sam and Max must not be doing well to have a price drop in the middle of the season. I'm kind of glad I got it for PC because of controls, but sad because of price drop.
