EA Sports has announced that New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd will be gracing the cover of NBA Live 2003, which is currently in development for the GameCube, the PlayStation 2, and the Xbox. "I am very excited about working with EA Sports on NBA Live 2003," Kidd said. "It's an honor to be on the cover of a game with so much history. I look forward to getting together with the developers this summer and adding my thoughts to help make NBA Live 2003 the best basketball video game around."

The PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game were both fully playable at a recent EA Sports event and seemed to be shaping up quite well. The PlayStation 2 version of the game was even playable online against representatives from their EA Canada offices. The game's online capabilities worked almosy flawlessly and featured almost no lag on a network connection that was said to be equal to that of a DSL or cable modem connection. The game will also support narrowband connections as well when it ships late this October for the PlayStation 2.

Expect a full NBA Live 2003 preview later in the week as well as more hands on information about the game tomorrow.
