Sony and Naughty Dog are currently knee-deep in development on a follow-up to the popular PlayStation 2 platform game Jak and Daxter. The game, called Jak II, will be released on the PS2 this fall.

Jak II is said to be a very story-driven adventure, with each mission in the game tying into the game's overall plot. Jak II is also a significantly darker game than the original. The game will feature four selectable weapons for Jak to use, and these guns will be upgraded over time. Thanks to Jak's having been imprisoned and experimented on for a couple of years, he can now transform into a powered-up version of himself called Dark Jak.

Jak II appears to be attempting to keep what worked in the original game and tweak and improve upon the portions of the previous game that didn't work quite as well. Will Naughty Dog succeed? You'll be able to find out this fall.
