Jack Black to remake mockumentary about shuttered MMO

Jack Black's production company will remake Wizard's Way, a mockumentary about two friends fighting to save their favorite MMO.

Actor Jack Black's production company Electric Dynamite will produce a remake of Wizard's Way, a British mockumentary about two friends on a crusade to save their favorite game of the same name after it's shut down.

According to Variety, Electric Dynamite acquired the rights for the movie shortly before its United States debut at the Slamdance Film Festival. In 2012, it won the Best Comedy Feature award at the London Independent Film Festival.

In the movie, a documentary crew follows friends Barry Tubbulb and Julian "Windows" Andrews, who together play an old massively multiplayer online role-playing game called Wizard's Way. The fictional game looks a little like the old Neverwinter Nights (1991). When they find out that the game has been shut down, they set out to bring it back to life and also find Tubbulb's in-game wife.

You can find a trailer for the movie on its official website.

I never even knew there was a Neverwinter Nights game made before Bioware made one, but I'm not very interested in early 90's games, so no wonder it slipped by me. Late 90's is when I started to play games.

he is really not funny. He has a really immature sense of humour.. but I do like some of his stuff.

I'm guessing you don't know him personally so your judgement is only based on public appearances which is more or less absolutely nothing like he is in his private life.

I think Pick of Destiny was Black's best and School of Rock was enjoyable despite him being in it. I don't think I'll be watching this mockumentary.

So Hollywood isn't satisfied with the British version that it needs an American remake? Or is this yet another case of needing an American remake because they can't understand the accents?

@alvarokike Not gonna happen, the first one bombed hard, no studio is gonna greenlight a sequel.

Perhaps for the best, I love D but the movie wasn't that good.

@hadlee73I think its the second.

When a Brazilian series goes to Mozambique or Portugal, several people there complains about our accents and say its difficult to understand, some even demand subtitles or even dubs.

@jack00Its like a documentary, but instead of being serious, its a comedy film in the form of a documentary.

@phoenixto Well I once read a comment from a idiot that said, "watching subbed programs destroys the family, because when you read is difficult to talk with the family and red at same time"

Besides I did used to watch portuguese and series from portugal myself and never had difficult either, but some people I met when they saw what I watching they said, "What language is this, arab? That's right you guys are lebanese."(Actually were jews, but brazilians can't see the difference between Jews, Turks, Arbs, Palestines, etc... for them all of them are Lebanese)
