Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare gets dangerously Cheesy sponsored content

Electronic Arts has teamed up with Cheetos and Target to bring special Cheetos-branded content to Popcap's "weird" shooter, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, according to a post to the game's official Facebook page.

The promotion offers customers a $10 gift card if they buy specially marked Cheetos snacks along with a copy of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. Each Cheetos product also comes with a code that can be redeemed online on your platform of choice. A single redemption will unlock Dr. Chester and Chester Chomper characters, as well as a "Craaazy Sticker Pack" that includes a mix of consumables, accessories, and items. Redeeming the code will also enter you in a chance to win a custom designed Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or a custom controller in daily sweepstakes that will last until September 26. Entering more codes will unlock additional sticker packs and more chances to win the sweepstakes.

This isn't the first time Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare featured this type of branded content. In late June, Electronic Arts announced Berry Spooter and Citrus Cactus, custom character variants with new appearances and abilities that were sponsored by Aquafina Flavorsplash.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare originally launched in February for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, on PC in June, and finally PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 last week, with the latter version running at 1080p/60fps. For more on Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, check out GameSpot's review.
