UPDATE: The short answer is "no," the game is not coming to Wii U. Sources have confirmed that the entry was originally made in the error and the shooter is not slated for Nintendo's system.

The original story appears below.

The Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare page at the official E3 2014 website lists Wii U as one of the platforms for this year's entry in Activision's behemoth FPS series, suggesting Nintendo fans may be able to get in on the action. Officially, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is confirmed only for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

The product page was first spotted by MP1st. It's possible that the listing was posted in error; after all, the official E3 website last year said Sony was bringing The Last Guardian to the show, and of course that never happened. We have reached out to Activision for comment.

It wouldn't be much of a surprise, however, if Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare does indeed come to Wii U. Predecessors Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 both made appearances on the platform.

Sledgehammer Games is developing the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, while a studio to be named later is working on the Xbox 360 and PS3 iterations. There's no indication yet as to which studio would handle the potential Wii U version.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches November 4. For more, be sure to check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
