Defcon and Uplink developer Introversion has confirmed it is currently working on Multiwinia for the PC, which will be released sometime in 2008.

Multiwinia will be a multiplayer version of the sci-fi real-time strategy title Darwinia, which was released in March 2005.

The game features a new formation mode, which will allow players to organise their Darwinians into ranks and create armies. In formation, the characters will have greater firepower in front of them and virtually none from either side or behind. The new game will also feature graphical upgrades.

Creative director, Chris Delay commented, "We've always known that Darwinia would naturally evolve into an incredible multiplayer game, and right from day one, I'd had visions of massive Darwinian armies converging for the ultimate Darwinian death-fest."

Introversion is a Surrey, UK-based independent company founded in 2001 by friends Chris Delay, Mark Morris, and Thomas Arundel, who describe themselves as "the last of the bedroom programmers." The company is also currently working on a game called Subversion, although very little is known about the title yet.
