Microsoft Game Studios has today announced that it is launching the first-ever Xbox Live baseball tournament later this month. On June 12, the top 1,500 ranked players on the Inside Pitch 2003 seven-inning leaderboard will be extended an invitation to participate in the competition. All respondents will be entered into a draw to win one of 50 signed Nomar Garciaparra baseballs, and the top 64 respondents will be chosen to take part in the tournament commencing in mid-June. After four knockout rounds, only four players will remain, and these finalists will win a trip to the John Hancock All-Star Fan Fest at McCormick Place in Chicago, where the semifinals and final will take place. The eventual winner will win two tickets to the 74th All-Star game at US Cellular Field in Chicago on July 15.
