inFamous and MGS 5 knock Titanfall to third in UK chart

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes sells 58 percent of its copies on PlayStation 4.

inFamous: Second Son has blitzed its way to the top of the UK charts, pushing Titanfall down to third place in its second week on sale.

Sneaking its way between the two games was Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which sold 58 percent of its copies on the PlayStation 4 and 20 percent on Xbox One. The remaining amount was split between 15 percent on PS3 and 7 percent on 360.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD launched in fourth, while last week's number two, Dark Souls II, dropped to seventh.

The rest of the top ten was rounded out by South Park: The Stick of Truth in fifth, FIFA 14 in sixth, The Lego Movie Video Game in eighth, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare in ninth, and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition in tenth.

Infamous 1 and 2 were just extremely crappy. The protagonist just never sits well with me. TitanFall got boring after a week.  The short MGSV prologue, is the only game of the 3 I can enjoy.

That's insane that Minecraft is still selling as much as it is

Happy to hear this.

Not because PS4 is selling more - I want both to be successful, and I think they will be. I am PC and PS gamer so my heart is with Sony when it comes to consoles, but we need strong Xbox if we want next PS to be great device, not just lazy excuse for money rip-off. I think X360 was the best thing to happen to Playstation, because it made Sony move away from their egocentric, "top-of-the-world" attitude and create console that is easy to develop for, not a console that makes developers life harder because of unnecessary exotic architecture.

Reason I'm happy is, there will be some long faces at EA and they might re-think of accepting to make forced exclusives where there was no reason to do exclusive at all... because porting this game to PS4 would be easier than porting it to X360, considering same architecture.

I can accept that in-house developer teams will be doing exclusives always, but there is no excuse why would 3rd party developers/publishers do that - except, of course, if they expected that PS4 will flop and money they get from MS is better than what they would make from PS4 version sales. In your face, EA.

@nikon133
EA shouldnt count for this but:
Making a game console exclusive usually means that you get a really good deal from the console. From funding to better rates (each game sold for a console takes a chunk for the console itself). And also submitting games for approval costs time and money. And dont forget the consoles sdks themselves althouth these days they are cheaper.. i think ps3 only costed 10k per debug console.

And they also get free publicity... MS marketted the hell out of titanfall

nikon133
nikon133

@bwvictorious @nikon133I know. Have PS4 turned out - sales wise - like Wii U, EA people would have every reason to rub their hands and pat each other's shoulders for great deal they made. But as it is - they could easily double or better XBO Titanfall sales have they released it to PS4, and sell much more in the future... for, presumably, really easy port.

I'm happy if this makes them suffer at least a little bit. I dislike when company openly show their corporate greed by willing to middle-finger number of their own customers whose loyalty they should work hard to maintain - EA does Playstation games as a general rule, after all - for (what they thought was) safer bet for some quick bucks. Beside unethical, I really think it was short-sighted. Even if they do TF2 on PS4, I wouldn't be surprised if lack of first TF does not hurt TF franchise sales in general on Playstation side, and considering that PS4 is selling well, cumulative effect could be more than just a few bucks.

Greed and stupidity deserve punish.

LMAO!

Just shows the PS4 with its overall sales are really effecting the market.

I mean, if more people have a Ps4 compared to a Xbox, then more people are going to buy it on the Ps4. Simple.

Week by week cpmparison is not really enough to say much but with MGS selling over Titan fall is hilarious. Both games are demos hahaha!

PlatinumPaladin

Genuinely surprised. I really did not expect Titanfall to fall from the top spot so soon after release. And to inFamous as well! I really do like the game, but it's not exactly Sony's champion of champions.

A PS4 exclusive leading the charts ahead of one on four platforms and an XBOne and PC exclusive. Never thought I'd see the day.

wallacom

Nice... that's good news. Too bad people buying MGS, straight rip off. I would rather pay $60 for Titanfall than $30 for MSG.

MegyeriJ

@wallacom  I wouldn't call it ripped off if they knew they were only buying a 2 hour tech demo but I am sure some kid in best buy saw the game and said "ohh mommy can I have that" with out knowing

I don't hear Sony bragging about inFamous being a system seller unlike those douchebags at Microscam who overhyped Titanfail. Sony knows better.

Jdzspace
Jdzspace

@berserker66666  - I think it's more because Sony doesn't need a "system seller" the system has been selling out all over the world.....even though it's been on the market for 6 months.....it's insane

minivirus2
minivirus2

Boy, Sony sure is raking in the dough right now. Good thing Titanfall is the system seller of our generation because... Wait, that already happened, and no one cared.

That didn't last long. I can totally see why they cut the price to $450 in the US now. It didn't give them the boost they were expecting.

A CoD title would never drop from #1 in only a week.

I think the $400 Kinectless SKU will be coming sooner than anyone thought. I'd say E3 they will announce the new SKU, and it will be available immediately.

you know what i love? the SECOND that Microsoft sales doubled we got an article about it on this site.

but when Infamous causes PS4 sales to go up by 104% (read: more than double), Gamespot is mute on it.

I wonder why that is

mos2000
mos2000

@Jdzspace Please - this site on an editorial said the PS4 is their console of choice this early, every bit of good news for MS is mirrored by some rebut, and even in this article they give the assertion that Titanfall made some major drop, when it just went down two slots....in UK.... It takes 8 UK's to equate the numbers sold in North America.

That's a bizarre theory your trying to pass along on this site... again ..please LOL

Jdzspace
Jdzspace

@mos2000 @Jdzspace  - yeah, they say that. and yet anywhere from 40%-50% of articles on any given day are about Microsoft.

do you not understand that they fact they are CONSTANTLY talking about Microsoft says something? There is no such thing as bad press, if you get people talking, and talking, and talking about something, ANYTHING. eventually they are drawn to it.

and Gamespot is being blatantly one sided about Microsoft, I mean they barely try to hide it

Completely different games for completely different audiences...LoL...This article is flaimbait.

Not to mention the fact that a week to week comparison doesn't give you the big picture. Let's look at the final sales numbers in a couple of months when they are available. Gamespot has really fallen off. Wow.

mos2000
mos2000

@chrisx2k3 There's one or two things happening here:

GS is trying maintain it's legitimacy towards its not so wise editorial decision of making the PS4 it's system of choice.... so early in the game...without there being a legitimate line-up to make such a distinction. Feb and March don't look so good for that choice -- so facts have to be caveated, information that negates their choice has to be constantly rebutted.

As history taught everyone else, the more powerful machine out the box (though PS4's power being marginally more powerful) has not been the "winner". Xbox was more powerful, but the PS2 slaughtered it.  The PS3 was more powerful, but the 360 gave that console a drubbing through 4/5's of the last gen. What was the difference -- the games...

Secondly they're fanning flames as you state.  Look at us, those that know better participate therefore causing fanboy reaction, which equates to more activity on the site. I'm trying to weigh facts against fodder, but in the end, they win because of it.

There's a rhyme and reason for everything my friend

chrisx2k3
chrisx2k3

@mos2000 @chrisx2k3  I'm not going to disagree with anything you wrote. It's clear that Gamespot is biased...LoL...EVERY XBO article title has some little jab at Microsoft, even if it's a "positive" story. It's flagrant here.

mos2000

@chrisx2k3 I want to say I'm glad someone else noticed, but everyone notices.  Instead, I will say I'm glad someone else said it.  Thank you my friend.

LOL -Loving these comments.  You all did notice that this was just in UK right????  Nothing against UK, but it takes sales in all of Europe to match the US alone.  Don't go salivating yet... goofs

Nevertheless good for all three.  Seeing games do well when all released at the same time is good for the community

I watched my son playing part of Infamous: Second Son and the game looked quite nice.  He's pleased with it, anyway, so money well spent.

I told all you stupid fuckin xbots that TitanFAIL sucked. I played the beta on PC and got bored in 10 minutes.

The game sucks compared to CoD and has no single player mode. Another EA turd.

@enoslives7 Game is good, it just lacks longevity. I can't see myself still playing it 6 months from now.

seanwil545

@lostn @enoslives7

That's really unfortunate, I hope gamers will come to expect more from a release. I played the PC Beta and said something to the effect that Titanfall had a "short life-span"...of course I got flamed.

DLC is the way with Titanfall...something I'm not interested in.

DrKill09

Titanfall was beaten by MGS5... a game that can be completed in six and a half minutes.  HA!

Dredcrumb9
Dredcrumb9

@DrKill09  it's a prologue not a full game. I have played all 3 of these, and MGSV, despite it's short length, is ten times better than TitanFall or Infamous.

So where are all those people saying "See Titanfall is a great game"? Even though the british don't really know much about games they know enough to know that the PS4 is better.

UPDATE: Titanfall for 360 mysteriously pushed to May

ziproy
ziproy

@HowlPendragon Wow really?? I love how GS loves to push those articles away as fast as possible. I didn't even know the March date was delayed until I went onto a GS article and they were referring to the release date as if it had always been in April. I thought it was a typo but then found some hidden article (I'm on here multiple times and hour and I never saw it once) saying it was pushed back because the company they gave it to to develop it needed more time (Respawn apparently didn't develop the 360 version. Another factoid they just seemed to forget to tell us)

thebeachguy90
thebeachguy90

Proof that this was nothing but a hypefest from MS. MS is like the rabbit that talks and talks while Sony is the Turtle that just shuts up and delivers and we all know who wins the race.

Someguy1212
Someguy1212

@thebeachguy90 I wouldn't say Sony has been playing the part of the turtle at all. I also wouldn't say MS would be playing the rabbit either. If anything Nintendo is the turtle in the new generation while MS is a stoner who says everything is cool but then just sits in a daze and Sony is simply letting their product do the talking.

neowarrior121
neowarrior121

proof in the pudding, barely anyone actually went out to buy titanfall here in england the majority of the copies sold were ones that came free with the xbone which had 2 price cuts as well. after that the next load sold is the pc game, the actual number of people going out buying it purely for there xbone is dismal at best as most people with common sense knows they're just going to the the 360 version. infamous if a real wanted game that makes people want a ps4 for it, ok people had a long wait but its amazing (played at a friends) im getting it this friday and easily beat titanfall i bet.

HowlPendragon

@grbolivar You're not paying $60 for the game. They are paying YOU $60 for the game (well $50) if you buy the Titanfall X1 bundle for $450.

The game is so good that instead of charging you for the game, they're paying you to take it from them.
