Codemasters announced in March that it was working on Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of IndyCar Series 2005; however, it now appears that the game will be exclusive to the Xbox in North America. Officially licensed by the Indy Racing League, the game will allow you to race the entire 15-circuit IndyCar Series season as any of the 33 drivers currently competing. Featured tracks include favorites like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Pikes Peak International Raceway, and the Chicagoland Speedway, as well as the new Twin Ring Motegi SuperSpeedway in Japan.

IndyCar Series 2005 will boast a number of new features and improvements over last year's game. The most significant change is undoubtedly the introduction of online play via Xbox Live; you'll be able to race against up to 11 other players simultaneously when playing online. If you intend to be first to the checkered flag, you'll need to master the use of the realistically functioning rearview mirrors as well as your steering wheel and pedals. Codemasters is also promising that the artificial intelligence drivers in the game will be more challenging than ever before, actively defending their positions and slipstreaming to overtake other drivers throughout the course of a race.

Codemasters plans to make IndyCar Series 2005 as accessible as it is authentic, and it is incorporating an updated master class training mode for any of you who are not familiar with last year's game or feel like taking a refresher course before racing. The master class training mode will teach you everything you need to know in order to race successfully and safely, and it is narrated by Dan Wheldon, Bombardier and Autosport rookie of the year.

The Xbox version of IndyCar Series 2005 is currently scheduled for release in North America in June.
