Particle Systems has announced the release of a second software development kit for Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos, its space combat simulation. The development kit lets users create their own missions, campaigns, user interfaces, and other custom content for the game. It includes a complete help file, along with a scripting language compiler program and sample scripts. For more information and to download the development kit, visit the official Independence War 2 Web site.
Independence War 2 was released in August by Infogrames, and it was recently selected by GameSpot as the best sci-fi simulation of 2001. Players assume the role of Cal Johnston, a pilot who has escaped from a maximum-security prison in order to avenge his father's death. Along the way, Johnston and his fellow escapees are drawn into the events that start the second Independence War. For more information, take a look at our full review of the game.
