On Saturday, The International Game Developers Network (IGDN) announced that it would hold two game development conferences and cosponsor a game developers-only conference in October.

Featured topics will include game design, game programming, art, animation, business and production, game development in general, sound, and music. Guest speakers will include Scott Miller, Chris Crawford, John Romero, Bob Jacob, and Josh White, among others.

"The IGDN is excited to continue sponsoring local game development events," said Marc Mencher, president of the IGDN. "By creating events that allow the people involved in game development to meet each other and share information, we are fulfilling our charter."

The two IGDN game development conferences will be held in Los Angeles, Calif., on October 3 (UCLA) and Dallas, Texas, on October 10 (Plano Centre). The Game Developers Only Conference 2 (GDOC2) will be held on October 25 in the Radisson Hotel, Union City, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay area.

"GDOC2 will continue the efforts started at the first GDOC held in April 1998 to focus on core issues of concern to the people who are the heart of the game industry - professional game developers," said Dave Menconi, founder of the GDOC conference series. "This is a conference designed for game developers by game developers, a place to exchange information, learn about emerging technologies, and discuss the art of game design."
