The Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA), the group behind E3, announced its second annual "Nite to Unite – For Kids” charity event this morning. To be held at San Francisco's Western St. Francis Hotel on September 29, the fundraiser is expected to raise over one million dollars for the Child Welfare League of America. Last year's benefit raised approximately US$600,000.

The gala event will feature a silent auction, celebrity appearances and entertainment. Additionally, Howard Lincoln, Nintendo of America's chairman, will be honored for his "commitment to social responsibility and corporate leadership".

"Last year, we started an exciting and significant initiative with the 'Nite to Unite - For Kids' dinner, and we hope to be able to contribute even more to CWLA's efforts through this year's event," said IDSA president Douglas Lowenstein. "CWLA is nationally recognized as one of the most effective, efficient and respected charities working to protect children of all ages, and the IDSA and its members are looking forward to coming together once again to aid CWLA in its efforts to help abused and neglected children."

Proceeds will go to help a demonstration project in Alameda County, CA that was launched through funds collected from the IDSA's first "Nite to Unite".
