Black Isle Studios has announced Icewind Dale II, its upcoming sequel to the popular Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game Icewind Dale. The sequel will improve on the hack-and-slash gameplay of the original game, and it will include new monsters, spells, items, and areas to explore in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms universe. The game takes place a generation after the events depicted in the previous game, and it will let players control a group of characters on a quest to save the town of Targos from a horde of goblins, orcs, and bugbears.

Icewind Dale II is scheduled for release on May 28. For more information, take a look at our 2844076Icewind Dale II Q&A with Black Isle producer Darren Monahan, and visit the new Icewind Dale II Web site.
