Tecmo Koei has revealed that Hyrule Warriors will be launching for 3DS in Japan on January 21 next year. The date was spotted on signage at Tokyo Game Show, which GameSpot is currently attending.

The 3DS version of the game will add The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker character Tetra, who will wield a cutlass and pistol. The King of Hyrule and The King of Red Lions will also be available to play. Both new characters can be transferred to the Wii U version of the game.

No details on a release date for territories outside of Japan have yet been announced.

Hyrule Warriors was previously released for Wii U and is a spin-off that features characters from The Legend of Zelda with the gameplay of Koei Tecmo's Dynasty Warriors. The game was positively received in GameSpot's review, praised for its delivery of fan service and rhythmic combat.
